Prince of Tides

There are tides in life, much like the tides of the ocean.

These tides, as they recede, slowly wash something away from our lives.  Sometimes, these are things we'd wish not to lose - much like a sand castle built too close to the water.

Occasionally, these tides also wash something up on the shores of our existence - shells, or maybe a curious stone.  Some of these things can have beauty.  But things washed up are much rarer than things washed away, and oft do not easily replace what the tides have taken from us.

Yet, when standing on the shores of the ocean, would anyone, given the power, want to stop the tide?
