"At last," Garfield murmured to himself. After so many years of being tormented by the twin idiocies of Jon and Odie, his revenge would finally be complete. It had been a long, hard road. First, Garfield had sneaked out of the house, heroically leaving Pooky and his lasagna behind. Then, he'd traveled to the mystical lands of the Far East, where he'd dyed his fur black, learned the ninja arts of stealth and cunning, and finally, developed a chemical compound that gave him the abilities of super-strength and levitation. Now, he hovered far above the little Arbuckle house, his Log of Doom ready and waiting. Garfield smiled evilly as he noticed the car pulling in the driveway. "Liz," he thought. "Perfect."

He waited a few agonizing moments as Liz exited the car and Jon dashed out to meet her, idiot grin wide on his idiot's face. When Odie ran out too and began yipping in excitement, Garfield knew the time had come. With a mighty effort, he flung the thrice-cursed Log of Doom down upon the hapless humans and the even-more-hapless pup. Then he threw back his head and howled in triumph.

In the distance, Arlene turned her head, tears staining her furry cheeks. "Oh, my love, what have you done?" she whispered. And then, she disappeared, into the growing darkness.
