| Xanga! Fire up the engines, prepare to blog!!Wow, it's been a while... how are you Xanga? "Mm, can't complain." That's good. So... what have you been up to? "Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I mean hey, if you aren't here to blog, I won't do anything on my own, sheesh, think ya loser." Oh, gee, thanks, I just love encouragement. "Ooh, sarcasm. That's original!" Yeah well... look, are you going to keep making fun of me, or are you going to let my blog? "Sorry, go ahead." Thank you. Anyways, these last few weeks have been busy, schola started up, so I've got a work load of a thousand mules. (<to self> What the heck?!) Friday I went to "Fiddler on the roof" which was great holiday fun, I went to the latah county fair Saturday night, there was a church picnic Sunday afternoon, and Jazz Choir (from now on I'll refer to it as "Bella", since that is what it's called) Sunday evening. Oh yes, my sister Liz turned 21 on Thursday, so we had a bunch of family up here. Instant fun. The Kizers (Uncle, Aunt, and Jay) and Wills (Cousin Lyss, and cousin in-law Kent) and Kate (my second oldest sister) and Emily and Aaron (Oldest sister and brother in-law) and Lydia (a boarder from Lizzie's freshman year whom we adopted as sister) and Grandparents came a little later in the evening for desert, and Luke (Lizzie's fie-ahn-say) came for dinner. Lots o' peoples. Friday night, after Faith and I got back from the play (which was at about 11:30), there was a coyote out in the field, not to far away, making the loudest rachet I have ever heard. He was only about 20 yards out! Why I didn't try to shoot him, I'll never know, but it was annoying. I heard Penny start barking like crazy, and Dad told me later that he went out there and saw her just chasing a coyote, from the yard across the driveway, into the field! They must have decide that Friday night was the night to get bold. Dad shot one Saturday afternoon, he pointed to the spot in the field where it was standing, which was about 175-ish yards away, and he said that even though he drilled it with a 160 grain chunk of lead, it still got up just a bit later and ran off into the brush! Man, they're tough! I once shot one at about the same spot where Dad got his, and the same thing happened. BAM! Coyote drops, flounders, get's up, runs off, dies in brush somewhere. Ok, I'm done with stories of coyotes. Next Monday, it's Dad's birthday! YAY!!! He'll be turning "The big 5-0". Also, coming up, deer season. That time of year rolls around every year, and ain't we all glad? I sure am. Deer hunting is awesome. It's the time of year when you shoot your gun at pieces of paper stuck on boxen out in the field, and your excuse is "I'm sighting in my scope." when, even though you are, you're mainly doing it for fun. Then you go out in the woods with your trusty rifle, sit somewhere for a while, if nothing happens, you go somewhere else and wait again, and you just wile away the hours on a nice afternoon sitting by a stream, waiting for deer to come and drink of the waters of life, not knowing that when they do, they'll be drinking of the waters of death instead. Kind of morbid when you think about it, but hey, it's life. Uh, for the hunters. Maybe not really life for the deer, but... you get my meaning. Yeah. I'm off to yet another schola class, so I'll see y'all later. In the mean time, don't slouch, and carry enough gun. ( ) | | |
| DustingI've been doing a lot of dusting lately. I dusted off my blog today, man it's been a long time since I've posted, and the last time I did, I posted computer games and about how random life can be. Like everybody didn't realize that some way or another. I even surprised a few of you when I said I play computer games (would it scare you even more if I told you that I sometimes feel like listening to techno? Lol). I dusted off my rifle last night because I thought I might have a good shot at a coyote that ran through our yard. I've been dusting books I'm going to be reading for school this year, the ones I got earlier in the summer, and the ones I've left sitting on my desk. I've also dusted off some of the books I read last year for school, so I could flip through them real fast and let memories flood back. I'm thinking of having my mechanic "dust" Charlette's engine and transmission, 'cause she keeps starting fights with me. I dusted my bed off yesterday, because we had a bit of a thunderstorm, and Penny, being the cowardly dog she is (she's afraid of loud noises such as gun shots, thunder, but for some reason loves big machinery like Grandad's truck, my truck, the tractor, and so on), was inside, and happened to be in the mood to lick my face, and, seeing as I was on my bed reading, she jumps up and licks my face while lying on my bed. She sheds like crazy sometimes, and this happened to be one of those times. <laughs> Funny dog. And I've been mentally dusting my brain, getting reading for the school year and all that stuff. I seem to have a lot of classes in different places this year. I'm taking Great Books 2B with Dad, Greek with Dad, Christian Doctrine with Dad, Chemistry with a lady in our church with a bunch of fun people, a writing class from one of NSA's graduate students, and then some more things on my own like math. GB2 and Greek I'll be able to do at home, but then I go into town for chemistry and later that afternoon, while we still have to be in town, I have Christian Doctrine. It's online though, so I'll use Mom's laptop most likely, and go somewhere to get a connection. Writing would be in town as well, I'm not sure as to the time, place, or date I'm starting, and the day of the week we'd be meeting is also a mystery. So, basically, I feel like I'm already going to NSA. I mean hey, I've read some books they read there, and I'm reading more and more as time goes by, and my workload keeps getting bigger and better. But I think once I get my mind used to this classical track, I'll enjoy every bit of it. One problem with dusting my brain off, I can't stop thinking at night. So, a tip, dust your brain, but not too much. | | |
| GAAHH!!!!(gunfire) computer: "Kch, Bravo, this is King 6, move to the objective and take out the-" (too much gunfire to hear) Me: "...time to run or shoot. I think I'll do both." BLAM!! BLAM!! <drops charge and runs off> click. BOOM!!! (building explodes) Computer: "Alpha team, move in, break. Bravo, provide cover fire. ALL KING UNITS! ENEMY CHOPPER INBOUND! GET YOU PEOPLE OUT OF THERE!" (chopper opens fire) Me: "Whoa that was close! <get's behind tree and waits for chopper to pass> (chopper passes) Me: <runs around building corner and finds grenade launcher>"Heh, Maybe this'll get him down..." <fires launcher> Cuthunk! (chopper falls out of the sky) "WOO- <dies>" Computer: "King six to all units, abort! Bravo is down, I say again, Bravo is down, abort mission!" Me: <stares at screen> "What happened? Where was the guy who shot me??" Sometimes life can be very unexpected, just like silly computer games. One minute you have the opportunity to do something great/fun, like finding a grenade launcher and taking out a chopper with it, the next minute however, you're dead. Nothing really frustrating has happened to me recently, nothing like shooting down choppers, just to get shot down myself. I was just thinking about that, rather distractedly, since I was playing the game <can't help but grin>, but still, I was thinking about it. It's happened to me before though, something I really wanted to do got to me, and I was really excited about it, and then suddenly poof. Gone. By by, woo, see ya. Mostly I was thinking about it during the game because I was getting really good at the mission I was playing, and I thought I knew where everybody was. But nooooooo, somebody decided to be sneaky and try to shoot me from cover. Well... I guess... he sort of... did... But in any case, he died in the next round. But something surprising in the good way did happen to me recently. I'm going camping with my cousin Jay, his parents, and my Grandparents. Fun times ahead! The idea of me going was sprung on me rather suddenly just the day before last, so I was caught a little off guard, but, it will be fun. I get to take Charlette and a canoe so Jay and I can explore Elk Lake. I'm sort of signing off abruptly, but too bad for you if you don't like it. ( ) I'll definitely post pictures later! (random quote. "No wonder they say 'Oh woman woman!'" "Who do?" "Oh, just, chaps mostly.") | | |
