WOO-HOO!So I went to this game with M,
Hellbie, Rick and Rich (who came down from Pittsburgh - he's a longtime friend and fellow Steel City MechWarrior gamer). And boy-howdy, was it FUN!
I daresay at least half, if not more, of the Verizon Center was filled with Pens fans. And we were loud and obnoxious! Just as a rivalry game should be! Our seats - gotten about a month prior - happened to be smack-dab in the middle of some rabid Pens fans (perfect!); for most of the game, M and I waxed nostalgic for all the games we attended at the Civic / Mellon Arena. The Pittsburgh accent, the 'talk', and of course, the eventual turn to Steeler chatter during the period intermissions...
It was like going 'home' again.
Anyway, the game was fantastic. Caps fans got all loud and pushy, but shut up really quick after 4 goals came back (3 on the power play) to haunt them. The final score doesn't reflect what a good rout in the end it was.
And M got several comments on her Ron Francis jersey. I, of course, thinks she just looks the bomb in it....
So the Penguins have clinched a playoff berth for the first time in 6-7 years. Nice. And how soooo appropriate that we clinch against our usual playoff victims (who won't be in this year, thanks to a late stretch CHOKE!).
Now I need to figure out if I should get DirecTV's Center Ice package for the playoffs or not...
