Dear Parents,

Thank you to all who came out to the Banpo Soccer Fields and to those who prepared snacks and lunches for Field Day! We had such an amazing day! The weather was perfect; not too hot, not too cold, and the rain held off until the evening. We played many games and did many activities including the balloon race, the egg race; steal the bacon (chasing after a ball), interceptors (a running game), and a 3 legged race. Everyone participated and we had such a blessed day!

This week is another special week as we celebrate all the Colors of the Rainbow. Many of the students came dressed in red today. They look so snazzy! We talked about how red makes us feel, what things are usually red, and made mini red books you can read with your child! Tomorrow is Orange Day so your son or daughter can dress up in orange clothes and we will celebrate the color orange! Later in the week we will be learning how to mix primary colors to make secondary colors; like how you mix red and blue to make purple.

Monday- Red
Tuesday-Orange
Wednesday-Yellow
Thursday- Green
Friday-Blue

Our letter of the week this week is the letter J. We are learning some fun Jj songs and doing the jump and jiggle for words that start with J. We love to learn about our letter sounds! We have begun a new book in Reading class. This book is called "Mice squeak, We speak". We are talking about different sounds animals make and sounds people make! This book coincides nicely with our science unit as we learn more and more about animals! I would like to organize a trip to the Children’s Grand Park Zoo for October. The details of this trip will come later but I will need some chaperones, so think about if you would like to join us for this trip!

Please remember to return your library books. Some notes were sent home today regarding some missing books. Library time is every Friday so you can return your books anytime within the week. If a library book is late a small fee of 100 won is charged per day late. So please return your books on time! The librarian really appreciates it! Thank you so much!

This week Friday is Parent Teacher Conferences. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s education set up an appointment with Mrs. Juhn (the secretary) and she will schedule a time when you can call me. This is just a check-up, a very informal phone conversation, in November we will have a face-to-face meeting regarding your child’s progress in kindergarten. So far I’m seeing so many amazing things going on in your child’s growth! It’s all very exciting!

This week Kristin Kim is on snack duty and our student of the week is Sarah! Sarah can bring in all her information to fill in her bulletin board. She can also bring in her favorite book for us to read together and bring in a special item on Friday for Show and Tell.
