I hope you had a great holiday with your family! I heard some of you even left the country! It sounds like you had an exciting long weekend! Now that Thanksgiving is finished we are looking foreward to Christmas! Next week, December 7th, is already our Christmas Program! The students spoken parts are coming along nicely. Thank you for helping your son or daughter by practicing at home! We have been practicing our singing so much we hope that you can come and enjoy it!
I am planning a Christmas Party for the last day of School before Christmas for all to attend if able. I have yet to work out the details and I will send a form home later but tentatively schedule the morning of the 14th of December for a Christmas Party!
This week we are back to our busy schedule! We have been studying food and recipes in Reading so on Monday we followed a recipe and made cookies! We had a blast making our Y cookies and you can see the fruits of our labour in the pictures below. We made Y cookies because this week we are studying the letter Y! We have thought of so many different Y words. And we are becoming better and better at blending sounds together to make words. In Science we are exploring different materials and how they relate to magnets. We have discovered that magnets are only attracted to metal, in particular iron and steel. It is so fun to play with magnets! Our rhyme for this week is "Old Mother Hubbard", which has brought up the big issue of poverty. We discussed how some children around the world are not as blessed as we are. Their cuboards are bare, just like old mother Hubbard's. We prayed for these children and gave thanks to God for all His blessings.
The Art Teacher, Miss Serralvo has asked me to request some boxes (once again!). The students will be using these boxes for an art project for the Art Fair! The art fair will take place Next week Friday along with the Christmas Program! So please come a bit early to the performance so you can see all the amazing artwork on display!
This week Justin Chung is charge of providing snacks and Monica Yoo is our Student of the Week. Monica is our last student of the week! It has been nice to get to know all the students just a little better. Have a great week!
