Had an interesting experience today . . . interesting in that it was outside of my normal range of "ministry."  So, here's the set up .  .  .  Last night I spoke in a missions service at one of our supporting churches.  That was fine and good (and well within the bounds of my experience of "ministry").  Well, when the church has a missionary speaker, they like to have the missionary also speak in the chapel services of the Christian school that is part of the church.  So, this morning I found myself holding a microphone and standing in front of a group of 9-11 year olds talking about missions.

In reality, it wasn't all that bad (although I am convinced that it takes a special person to be a children's minister).  But it also reminded me of the message I preached just last night . . . that we treat our faith like it's Fear Factor.  We like to stay in our safety/comfort zones, but I think God wants to challenge us to get out of those safe zones into realms where we have to depend on God in ministry.  I was definitely feeling that this morning.
