As you can see, people tend to lose interest in a challenge after about the first two weeks.  Kind of discouraging for the person hosting it.

Anyway, congradulations to you girls!  You did wonderfully.  A 5lb loss in a month is considered really good and many of you achieved around that- or higher!

    The winner is...

    robo_hannah
    Hannah
    Starting Weight: 137lbs
Weight as of July 29: 125
    12lbs lost!!!

who was a wonderful contestant! She weighed in regularly and left me comments all the time.  Congrats, Hannah!  (she also reached her goal weight!!)

    2nd place:
      light_and_fitx  &  blueeyedangel86  who each lost 8lbs!
    3rd place: mlemlemlee & ana_sophia who each lost 6lbs!

  • I have to quit this.

I am so so sorry girls.  Seriously.  I feel awful, but I just don't have time to think of entries for this site right now...
First, I was busy because I was on vacation, then I had relatives over, then I was making jewelry for a market and now my husband has been in and out of the hospital.  I honestly have not found the time or energy all week.

I feel awful though... I hope you all understand.  If I have tips or healthspo or anything, it'll still be posted on this site, okay?

I'll figure out all your weigh ins and post them asap and determine a winner.

    Again, I'm sorry.  :(

  • Sorry for the late post!
    Summer is so busy.  :)

Everyone link me or post at least 3 healthspo pictures on your site.  I'll post them all here later!
(that way we can see what different people like)

I'll get around to the weigh-ins this week, I swear.

    Jump Rope!

Jumping rope actually has a lot going for it as an exercise. Rope skipping can assist in developing agility, coordination, and balance, not to mention improvements in cardiovascular and muscular endurance. Current research is showing that high impact activities, such as jumping rope, can also help maintain and/or build healthy bones. Another big plus is that the cost is minimal – a place to jump, a good rope, and a pair of supportive athletic shoes are all you need. (link)

In order to improve heart and lung health, it must be performed 3 to 5 times per week for 12 to 20 minutes an hour, and at an intensity that will get the heart rate into training range.

To find your training range subtract your age from 220. Multiply that figure by .9 to get the high range. Multiply by .6 to get low range. With this formula a person 25 years old must keep their aerobic heart pulse between 117 and 176 to be gaining benefit. Aerobic benefits do not diminish or decline with training as in other aerobic activities.

From an energy standpoint, jumping rope at about 130 revolutions per minute is similar to running at 6 miles per hour or cycling 12 miles per hour. Just 10 minutes of rope skipping is equivalent to a one-mile run.

When choosing a rope, hold the rope and stand with your feet on the middle. If the length is correct, the handles should just reach your armpits. Handles should be thick and comfortable. (link)

Begin by grasping handles in hands and relaxing the middle of the rope at your ankles, with both hands at your sides.

Swing rope over your head in a forward motion, walk or jog over rope switching feet, increase speed as you feel more comfortable.
