| Let's see here ... classes start next Thursday. If anyone would like to
take on my courseload for the semester, I am currently interviewing
interested applicants.
Highlight of my day: finally went in for a MUCH-NEEDED cut and dye and
came out with a cute new bob. (Poor hair had gone 8 WEEKS without a
cut, and was subjected to many many hours outside in the sun in Paris.)
Then, unfortunately, I got a massive headache at work and left feeling
extremely nauseous. But it's all good now. (I can't believe I just said
that!)
And Megan Phillips is currently 21!!! Everyone call and wish her a happy (alcoholic) birthday!

| So I'm a little over halfway through my trip, and I know I won't be ready to come home in 3 weeks!!!!
Here's are some more highlights:
World Cup soccer (even though we lost)
Riding the Ferris Wheel outside the Louvre at night and getting to see all the famous landmarks of Paris lit up and gorgeous -- especially the light show at the Eiffel Tower
Walking the Champs-élysées and seeing all of Paris at night again from the Arc de Triomphe
Seeing this awesome movie: Paris, je t'aime
And lots and lots more that I don't have the time to type!!!!
A bientot my little darlings! | | |
| HOWDY!!! I am finally in wonderful and amazing Paris!!! The last 2 weeks of traveling have been such a blast: I got to see some awesome stuff, hang out at brasseries drinking wine with friends in the evenings, eat 4-course meals every night that lasted for 2 hours, and rack up some very funny stories about travel mishaps.
Yesterday afternoon we pulled into Paris, so I am now settled into my room at the Foyer (it's a little small and there's not much furniture, but it's not like I will be spending much time in it anyway). Then last night some of us went out for another lovely dinner and then painted French flags on our faces and parked it outside at a bar to watch France play Brazil in soccer --- we won OF COURSE, and it was so much FLIPPING fun to be watching it. Everyone gets so into it, and after the game was over everyone was hugging and people get in their cars and drive around honking their horns through the streets. Even the ambulances and police cars would drive by honking and waving, and there was a huge group of them. (We also got hit by celebratory water that someone threw down from their apartment!) Someone told us that everyone heads down to the Champs-Elysees after France wins, so we're going to watch the game down there Wednesday night and then get in on the crazy celebrations afterwards -- we also decided to buy some t-shirts to wear!
I have tons more to write, but this has already taken me forever since the keyboards are so different here, so I will keep updating (hopefully semi-regularly), and maybe at some point I wil even backtrack and include some things I skipped this time around.
As they say over here, A Bientot!!!

| Alrighty kiddos, the boring part of my summer is about to end -- I just
have to get through this stressful weekend and then I'll be on a plane
to faraway lands Monday afternoon!

| I have good news and bad news. First, the bad news:
My father taught me how to change the voicemail greeting on my phone.
For the past 5 years, many of you have enjoyed teasing me because of
the way I say my name (Amy .... Cahill???) -- it sounds like I'm in the
throes of a thrashing identity crisis. (I, also, find it amusing.) And
really the only reason it has stayed that way is because I'm too stupid
and lazy to change it, but over dinner the other night my dad helped me
figure it out. So starting Monday, my greeting will inform you all of
my whereabouts in Paris and the fact that my phone has remained firmly
on U.S. soil -- and that thus I will have no access to it until the
beginning of August. I suppose you can leave me a message if you want.

And now the good news:
I finally watched The Producers -- it took me 2 viewings because I was
too tired to stay awake and watch the whole thing last night, so I had
to wrap it up this morning. HILARIOUS movie -- Will Ferrell and Uma
Thurman especially. But the best part of all is the outtakes on the
DVD. I seriously laughed myself silly, so I highly recommend that you
all go out and rent The Producers if for nothing else but to watch the
bloopers real. (It is a good 15 minutes long too!) You will enjoy
yourself, I guarantee it.
