so, this is serious guys.  apparently, our friends at commerce bank have come to a startling realization.  found on http://www.commercebank.com/personal/trust/default.asp

Personal Wealth Management

"If you're fortunate enough to have significant wealth, you may have found that it does not cure all problems."

what?!?  really?!?  there's no way!  well, i'm just so glad that the banking system has finally found a way to help those poor, poor people who have too much money.  "here, give us your money.  we'll keep it safe for you while you go out and have a ball.  now you don't have to worry about it."

blah.  anyway, it's about time that the real world figured out all anxieties and problems DON'T CEASE with the accumilation of wealth.

thats why i bank at usbank.

anyway...i listened to the soundtracks you made me. i just have to say that the first song on the second CD ( it starts out "lonely tears i cant cry them anymore...") i dont think a song has ever really made me want to crawl in bed a die. i had to switch to the next song to repel the 'i want to crash the car in the side of road' feeling that consumed me. so uhhh just thinking about that song makes me want to  lay in bed with one arm slung over my face and moan...but God is good and life is too exciting and good at the moment for that!!

So I came across your site from someone else's and I thought that I would comment.  First as an employee of the bank you decided to quote, well it caught my attention.  Now I think the only people that may be of the mindset that money fixes all problems are people without money.  The individuals who have not been wise with there money or are in serious debt.  Working with a high cliental, that I have personally come to know and enjoy, they suffer the same problems as everyone else and don't deny it either.  Money, does not, in anyway define who you are.  Now unfortunately in some cases certain individuals get off  the hook for having fame and wealth.  And there are numerous people in this world who have quite a bit of money and you would never know it, not from how they act, talk or dress. Why? Because it does not define them. Now there are those who are superifcal and materialistic but thats another ball game.  And on behalf of where I work, banking is a business, just like anywhere else.  Whether you are putting your money in a trust account or spending it a starbucks, you are putting it somewhere in the economy.  So while you may be of the mindset that they are all out having a ball, many of them have worked exceptionally hard to be where the are at, they have spent a good deal of time being wise with their expenses and it has paid off.  In no way do I think it is fair to categorize what is really a few people, into such a large group. And even being a Christian money is still something we will be facing, being wise and not allowing it to control us, for we can not serve two gods.  You may not agree with my opinion and thats okay, its just something I have learned from being in the banking industry.  Anyways thats really all, sorry to take up so much space. Feel free to comment back if you would like.

well, i wasn't trying to categorize all who have money into one, well, category. i merely thought that it was kind of funny that the banking industry would note the fact that money does not solve all problems. i guess coming from a middle class family, it just seemed hilarious. really, no offense meant to people who have worked hard.

but you brought up some issues that i think i'd like to address. unfortunately, money does define who some people are, and more common, who some people want to be. i think you meant objectively, but i mean subjectively. for too many people, money is all that really matters. as far as the unsaved go, it's hard to judge them for it. they are simply seeking themselves in something that is only going to leave them empty. as far as Christians go, at least those who claim the name, money in this country has become a god that many "Christians" have bowed down to and worshiped. not that they haven't worked hard, but their work has been to achieve a goal: money. i think 1 timothy 6:6-10 is especially pertinent.

just to clarify, i don't think any Christian who has money is in sin for that reason. obviously, God is a God who looks at the heart and sees motivations. the love of money is evil. paul simply says, "those who desire to be rich." there is a false assumption by many that having financial security will lead to peace of mind, when that is a mistake. paul says "with food and clothing we shall be content." after being rescued from eternal darkness and "transferred" to eternal light (colossians 1:9-14), we should have no reason to seek material comfort in this world other than for the express purpose of the glory of God. sure, enjoying a good cup of coffee at starbucks or putting money in a trust fund can be very God-honoring. i suppose i'm just worrying about those who seek comfort here while ignoring their citizenship in heaven.

did any of that make any sense? i've seen some of your comments on "someone else's" site and thought you had good input, so thanks for your comment. feel free to do so anytime.

Oh I don't disagree with you in anyway, as much as I have seen people work hard, I have had people come in and freak out on me, so either way.  I never really learned about money, how to be wise with it and how it really worked, so to speak, until I began in banking.  Its really been a blessing.  And I agree, I think you are right in that some instances money does define who people are, especially people who have no other defination.  For I know that my defination is that I am a beloved daughter of the King, I am His, that is who I am.  I suppose that when you have nothing else, money can define you, I guess I am saying that it shouldn't, but we all know that.  Just like people allow things like race, sexuality and other issues seperate people from really loving each other, we allow the wrong things to define us.  But this seems to be a WHOLE other issue, so I will leave it alone.  Thanks for the interaction brother

heh, i bet you see that all of the time. you know, in my experience, money seems to add problems, not reduce. now, proper financial magagment is a whole different issue. i don't know if i'll ever have a handle on that one.
