What changes have you made to go green?
Going green, is the new black. Er whatever.
Our world is changing. Just look around you. Maybe I can see it so easily because of my geographical locale, but, Id imagine there would be signs that something needs to change just like everywhere else.
I have two tall windows that reach completely from my living room floor to the second floor. They are southfacing, and have been filled to the brim with tomato plants, avocado trees, anything I can get to grow, Im growing it. mostly anything.
We walk to work. In fact, we limit driving to two trips a month, unless otherwise necessary.
We bring our plastic baggies back to the store, so some other poor sap can use them over and over.
I cut the plastic things off the soda sixers. well, I would, but we quit buying soda about a year ago.
We buy our produce from a farm, thats about five miles from our house. Can't get more locally grown than that.
My husband reuses his coffee cup, everyday. But I bet he just does it to get the free refills and because the barista is a little hottie.
Baby steps, as they say.
I just answered this Featured Question because it is a great question, and really made me think, you can answer it too!

Whoa, a Featured worth answering...who'd've thunk it.
I bought a bunch of reusable grocery bags and they are now collecting dust in my kitchen b/c I keep forgetting I have them. Half a baby step?
Those are good steps of going green, unfortunately, I haven't done a whole lot for our environment. I suppose there is always room for improvement, though.
Nice work. I do absolutely nothing green, I am ashamed of myself.
@LyraSky - I do so little, I felt like a hypocrite for writing this. Well, we cant all live on an earth ship, right?
I love this post!
In addition to the plants, I suggest keeping a big pot of basil around. From it, you can make yummy pesto sauce, which is great over pasta. (Well, it's basil, parm. cheese, and a bit of olive oil.) Let me know if you want the recipe...:) You can keep basil all year round, most of the time. :)
I've got those lightbulbs that they suggest using. I used to get my produce from a farm, like you, but I moved. And the damn farm didn't move with me! hehe
I try to avoid drinking bottled water; there's a perfectly good water filter on my fridge. :)
I hate how everyone jumps on the Green bandwagon like it's some brand new thing.
It's the same shit we've been hearing for decades, but suddenly it's really important.
Fucking eco-trend-whores.
The great and powerful Al Gore has prompted us to gobble his knob, and SUDDENLY this shit that i've been doing for years is in everyone's best interest?
So now every time I hear GREEN or GO GREEN or some other "ARE YOU GREEN?" phrase, I stand out on my front yard and empty a whole fucking aerosol can into the air.
@nothingbeast - wow. Just wow.
what do I say to that?
@Blue__Summer - basil is up there. Goes well with the tomato plants I gathered from the beautiful blue eyed brunette selling the plants to me and trying to tell me how to keep them alive.
@antisoccermom - You know i'm playing right?
Hell, if my scooter wasn't still in the shop, i'd be riding it now.
Just a little 50cc putt-putt machine. I'm actually just a bit big for it, but it gets nearly 100 MPG.
do you think you post a lot? i find it hard to keep up with your weblog. maybe i just have too many subs.
@Infamous_Dewey - I post whenever the mood hits. And its always gonna be up there, sorry?
@antisoccermom - no need to be sorry. i was just wondering.
Wow you're good. I usually feel good just cuz I take public transit and recycle... but home-grown veggies are ohh so good.
hmm..recycling is about all I do.
I do have cloth shopping bags but seem to always forget to bring them in.
At least I recycle the ones from the grocery store.
If that is you in the profile picture, I'll have to SERIOUSLY hate you...or be extremely jealous.
hehe the barista line made me laugh
