| | Oy! Job searches suck! heh. I feel so untied right now. I keep losing track of the date and can't believe it's not August yet. Nevertheless I feel really relieved right now about the whole Houston thing. I didn't realize how much I miss this city. It's still growing at breakneck speed and it's amazing to drive around my old area and see how much is changed. They surrounded my old apartments with new shopping centers, an LA Fitness and a high rise hotel. Crazy! Sleepy little Parkway is now stop and go traffic. I am wanting to go see Hairspray! We might go this afternoon. I hadn't been to a movie in several years until we went to see... I forgot what it was but it was good. Now I am liking the movies again. I still haven't seen harry potter the newest. I called a few old friends who are giving me tips about the district we all used to work for and who to talk to. We're going to have dinner sometime this week and hopefully things will come out of that. If you've never applied to be a teacher before, it's a very odd process. 1. You apply online. You submit an application and then wait several weeks for it to all go through and principals to call you. 2. You have no way of contacting the district to find out if your application was received, at least not for several weeks. Some districts make you apply and then wait two weeks and then call them to set up a screening interview. It's a very odd process and you have a two week silent period. I'm one week through that. 3. I don't know why I made a numbered list for this, but I did, so I decided to put a three. That's about it though. It's just a very confusing and lengthy process before you actually get an interview. No matter how desperate they are for teachers, they don't do much to speed up the process. |
