“And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message.” Colossians 4:3

Where else should we take our prayer requests? We know they should be taken to the Lord. But it helps to find a group that has made prayer a priority. It is refreshing to get to know a group of intercessors that have devoted themselves to prayer. It does not take long before the prayer requests start pouring in from on corners. When people hear of a band of people who have banded together as prayer warriors, outsiders join them or send the group prayer items that require miracles. It is true that the prayers of righteous people avail much.

This was my experience some years ago when a small group decided to pray every Thursday night on a university campus. The group started to grow as people joined and brought prayer requests. It did not take long before the power of the Holy Spirit broke through the group with a revival that engulfed the campus. We came to understand that the secret of a revival is prayer accompanied by the preaching of Jesus Christ. When people open themselves to the work of the Holy Spirit the come forward with a simple statement: “Please Pray for me (us).“ The more people who open themselves to prayer, the more they will start testifying to answered prayer. The seed of revival are sown with testimonies of answered prayer. The faithfulness of God has a way of inspiring a contagious faith in other people.

The request of the Apostle to the Christian community in Colosse is a lesson for all Christians. Just think about this?  The same Paul who has been used mightily by God to bring healing to many people, appeals to the Church for prayer. So often some Christians live as if they are beyond asking for prayer. Yes, it is true that Paul was not asking for prayer for his personal needs. He was praying for the message of Christ to be given an open door.

It is God who opens doors for ministry. So we better take our requests to God. It sure helps to have people who are devoted to prayer join you in this ministry of intercession.

Please, pray for me so that God’s will for the ministry of Christ will be known in every situation
