“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.” Colossians 4:5

Christians are called to be wise in every situation. We have a testimony to uphold before the community of faith and those outside. There are people who are observing every action of ours so closely. They believe that what we say and do represent what Christians are supposed to do. Some of these people we will never know, but we will impact their lives for good or for evil.

There are many views of Christianity going around. There are those who believe that Christianity means prosperity. And there are those who believe that suffering should not be part of the Christian faith. Some will even go to the extreme of saying that those who have faith will not need modern medical care. These are a few of the situations that we are called to demonstrate wisdom.

“Charismatic” leaders have led some people astray. They have used their eloquence and influence to push their understanding of Christianity on others. It is for that reason that the people of God have to be wise in searching the scriptures to see if the issues being preached are in accordance with the Word of God. Being wise in all manner of things will involve seeking God’s will through prayer and good counsel of other Christians.

We have been assured by the word of God that “you will find me if you seek me with all your heart.” Our God is seeking to disclose the things of God to all those who “ask, seek, and knock”. Laziness has never been equated with Christianity. It is imperative that the people of God use all the tools at their disposal to bring glory to God.

God presents opportunities to extend the kingdom of God to every generation. People can refuse to avail themselves of the doors that God open to them. Then they turn around and ask “where were you God when we needed you?” When we pray for open doors, we should be wise enough to observe the doors and to walk through them. I know that sometimes a hurricane will blow us through the doors. But most of the time we have to expect answers to our prayers and walk in the direction that God is leading.

Stay blessed
