I was going to write about Turn Left, Turn Right (maybe tomorrow!!) but I started my new copy of Silence tonight and have been sucked into the melancholy storyline before Vic even gets screen time. I love this story. LOVE! LOVE!! LOVE!!! Maybe because it gives me a reason to cry. But from the first fifteen minutes, it has my heart. Two children meet in a hospital, one has lost her voice and her mother and one has found love for the first time in his life. They create a secret hiding place, a secret sign, and promise to meet again when they are 25 on Christmas Eve. Alone and misunderstood by those around them, they are parted too soon- leaving a big gap in their lives that only the other can fill. Thus, they set you up for the heartache ahead.
I think this is my favorite Vic role. It's hard to chose between this and Ling in MARS, but he's a much more mature actor in this, and he breaks your heart. Or at least, he breaks my heart. Compared to his role in Sweet Relationship, Silence has a lot more power and talent in it. Sweet Relationship seems like a typical, mindless idol drama that you do when you want the money to buy a new car or need a distraction. It isn't something that challenges you as an actor. In fact, if Vic wasn't in it, I wouldn't bother finishing it... but Silence? Silence is a series you'll never forget. It's one of those things that change you when you watch it.
It took me a long time to find this with English subs and it's a bootleg copy, downloaded from Silent Regrets and burned to a CD (I could have done that! Sigh!). So I guess I'll be buying a real copy w/o subs soon to make it legal. Why bother? Because the only thing the entertainment world values is $$. How much did something make? How many copies did it sell? And while I know Vic's cut of this is tiny- if he gets anything, it's important to me that he gets the credit for the sale. If I want the media to continue to exist, then I have to support it to the best of my ability. If I want to be able to buy things subbed, then I have to make sure people know there's a market for them... and that means buying legal copies. I watch a ton of stuff online, but I try to buy the things I love- when they're available (which isn't often).

i'm a fan of vic the moment F4 was born...hahaa...silent type.
i agree with you, although i didn't watched the whole episodes of mars..i think vic acting on silence is what his fans wants to see on him on screen.
i watched silence on our local TV only....their love is really strong and vic's character is what woman wants to find in our real world. :D
@Truncated - Mars is what introduced me to F4!
@asianmediaxplosion - meteor garden is what introduced me to f4!!!
oh gosh. Silence has got to be the best drama in the world that Vic plays in! I mean I loved him in Meteor Garden but in Silence he just pulled me up to the top. He is such a good actor here. Even now after I finished the series I do the hand sign of the Star and think about his character. Oh gosh. I love him!
@karmie_se7en - i've been trying to think about everything i've seen with him in it... and i still come back to Silence being his best role so far! he's so amazing in it. i haven't seen his movie, linger, yet. i'm dying for a copy of it. i know that with vanness, it was his movies that made me feel like he could act. i wonder if that's the american part of me... you're not really actor if you haven't done movies syndrome... i hope not!
