COLD AND CRANKY

Yes, welcome to hell...the cold kind anyway. We here in Texas have been besieged with one of the worst ice storms that this part of the country has seen in a long time. Yea, yea, yea. You people up North just laugh all you want but, dammit, we Texans were not designed for this stuff.

Dallas and the surrounding neighborhoods were blanketed with snow and ice after last night's frozen downpour.
My sister in NYC was asked by a friend, "Is that how they really drive down there?" Yup, afraid so and we don't know how to drive in rain either...so there!
Traffic crawls around stranded 18-wheelers, as trucks spread sand on an icy hill on westbound I-30 in Mesquite.
A lone tractor trailer sits on the southbound side of I-35, as a police officer tries to guide traffic.
But, hey, some out there knew how to get around!
Michael Martinez, 11, and his friend Barry Martinez, 11, laugh as they glide down an icy driveway.
A lone snowboarder makes his way down Flag Pole Hill in East Dallas. Hundreds of people gathered at one of the few large hills in Dallas to ski, snowboard and play in the snow.
This is Flag Pole Hill in East Dallas. School's out and all the kids are out also!
A crowd converged on Flag Pole Hill in East Dallas to make the most of the winter weather.
And if it gets too chilly out there, just build yourself a temporary shelter to keep yourself warm...
Eleni Patitsas, 11, works on an igloo in an alley in her neighborhood.

I-45 was almost empty south of downtown Dallas.
Those of us in Dallas may not be snow smart but most of us know when to stay home and call in sick! Hot cocoa anyone?

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. Especially one certain Atlanta gentleman who sent his birthday salutations in one of them there for-un languages. It was much appreciated! And yes Gary, now I know why I think you are such a warped individual...we were born too close together to be anything else. Happy birthday to my fishy twin!!(and you know who you are)

Keep warm and have toasty thoughts
Nothing But Love
Aviv

Aviv..it was indeed cruel of  mother nature to send you  all of that ice and snow for your birthday...sort of like icing on the birthday cake?  BTW..happy birthday, from another Pisces.

Unfortunately, I'm too far north of ya to let a little bit of weather like that keep me home from work.

Thanks for the pictures.  I remember how we had ice in Texas when it got cold.  Can handle snow, not ice.

Hope you have a happy year, we are one day older today.

((((Shirley))))) Wow... You sure have it rough over there. Ice is the worst! I would rather have 2 feet of snow than have to deal with ice.

Hope all is well with you otherwise...
Have a good weekend and get out there and do something just for YOU

I know, I know, smack me! I am sitting here laughing as well. I have about 3 inches of ice out there now. But really, I don't think I will ever get used to the cold. Hope your weekend is good. and {{{hugs}}}

LOL!  It's looked like that at least 5:7 days a week here for the last 4 months, and don't fret...most people out here don't know how to drive in the shit either

What herbs do you take for your arthritis??  Anythings better then nothing.  They used to have me taking Celebrex...but it messes up your stomach.

Have a good one!

That ice and freezing rain made me think I was back in the Carolinas.  They have had more than usual of the nasty stuff there this year too.  At least we will be warming up in a few more weeks to something that at least near Spring.  Sorry I missed your birthday!!  When all of you there get well, you deserve a night out on the town.

I hope you had a great birthday! I think that people drive badly in inclement weather no matter where they live. I've lived in snowy climates my whole life and there are *always* people to complain about.
