Well I do have a tendency to disappear for a while don't I? The battles with school have been taking up a large chunk of my time,especially where it concerns Jessica. We've had more than one incident of late. The school, who knows nothing of Jessica, has gone a tad overboard in covering all the bases. Let's see, Jessica has an aide that goes everywhere with her, even to lunch and the bathroom! She even attempts to lead Jessica around by her elbow. She is a high functioning 11 yr old, ya know.

The teachers have been issuing Jessica worksheets like she did in 1st grade! Pictures (cat, dog, cup)that she is supposed to write the name underneath...in print. Well it was about 1st grade the last time she wrote in print! And they even highlighted the answers to a word search puzzle!  But then all the teachers are handing her this type of work.

Then there was the incident when Jessica got mad at the aide for hovering over so much and stomped off into the hallway. The aide punished her by not letting her participate in gym, her favorite class. Which resulted in Jessica becoming so angry that she threw a basketball at the woman's head! Now I didn't condone what she did but it wasn't as if the woman didn't deserve it!

The diag. refuses to get a different aide for Jessica since these two apparently don't get along and teachers are just letting this woman steer the way. Her social studies teacher also let speech therapy take her out of class just before an important exam. I emailed every teacher and told them not to do it again.

Needless to say an emergency ARD has been called to change her IEP. I'm already tired of aides who think they're teachers and diag. who think they are demi-gods. If it wasn't for the fact that Jessica likes it so much, I would pull her out. But, I'm trying not to let my personal feelings intercede.

Then there's Alyssa....poor baby has been diagnosed with dyscalculia(dyslexic form of math) along with her Inattentive ADD. She is now being counseled for low self esteem and symptoms of depression. And she's only in 4th grade!  But at least she has made friends in this school which is a polar oppositve than the last school she was in.

The only reason that I've been able to write today is because everybody is resting from their individual ailments. Both the girls were hit with strep on Friday. Gary has spent the last week in and out of the MRI office. He apparently is facing surgery for a torn muscle in his shoulder and back surgery because of several discs bulging out along his spine. So there goes all the vacation time he once had! And if she(the doctor)gives him one more pill, Gary will be able to open up his own pharmacy!

Even with all this, I  needed a break. So I've been taking the dog( the Jack Russell I inherited from CountrySunflower)for a walk. Maybe a jaunt since we go about 6 blocks with Lightning basically running the entire way. Who needs some stinkin' high dollar gym when you have a hyperactive terrier?

Hopefully, things will quiet down around here. My living room is filled with boxes for a up-and-coming garage sale and my living room was small anyway! I'm meditating a lot more than I used to. Hmm, wonder why.
