I am back again folks. I was reading James' site
concerning Forgiveness. It made my think a lot about forgiveness in this
country and we are not a forgiving people by nature. We all may state that we
want world peace but do we really?
After all look at all the states that believe in the
death penalty. If we are such a peaceful and forgiving sort, why must we put to
death another individual. Yea, I know. Should we let them run free to kill, rob,
rape, etc.... But do you really want to be the one that pulls that switch?
Not me, my friend. I have actually witnessed this ordeal when I lived in
Huntsville, Texas(I was attending university, not attending prison if anyone
cares to know). It is not a pretty sight and one that will cling to your memory
like maple syrup.
I still have nightmares to this day upon witnessing this
act and 'this act' took place over 15 yrs ago. I will most likely have
nightmares tonight just by writing this.
When do we become a peaceful people? Is it our own inner
angst that makes us aggressive even violet? Is that the reason that we wish such
violence upon another that has created mayhem and violence? Tooth for a
tooth..I, myself, believe that is how we got here in the first place. A land of
essentially biased people who don't even blink when sirens go off, that look the
other way when an aggressive act takes place in front of us....
I hope not. I guess I will just go watch COPS and get
over this feeling.. No answers; just something to think
about.
