Morning All! Well it's Saturday and I bet everyone is still sleeping in!
It's been a hectic week for ol' Aviv here. We ended our softball season here and I am sure some of you are more than happy to hear that...won't have to hear me rant anymore concerning that subject.
Well it's also the beginning of Jim Bowie Days here. Afterall this is Bowie, Texas you know! The girls were on a float in the opening day parade which really excited them but exhausted poor us. Gary had to walk beside the float to make sure the more troublsome girls kept sitting. Yours truly had to carry a banner in front and do a little high steppin'(we were behind a horse unit). The reason that Momma here was in front is because last year the woman driving the truck that was hauling the float started going about 30 mph! A couple of fat, middle aged people chasing a float is not a pretty sight! And guess who drove this year? Yes siree, same person...well you take who you can get. But if she hit me I told her that I was going to sue(our sponser was a lawyer).
Alyssa's coach(my 7 yr old) would not let her be on the float unless she helped with it. Fair enough, but they decided to do this at 9 p.m.! O.K., the child is 7 and can barely make it to 8:00 before putting her own self to bed and they want her up at 9 and spend an hour or two decorating a float?!
When I informed the coach that she wouldn't be able to be there, she told me,"Well she can't ride on it then!" Fine, no sweat. It's just a float not the Presidential Inaugaration!
So, she rode her big sister's softball team float. Nanananana! I doubt now that she will be invited to the team's after season party nor will she recieve her award(they finished 2nd place). Some people....the kids act more grown up than most of the grown ups!
I also have to tell you about something that really cheered me up yesterday. I had a wonderful telephone conversation with a fellow Xanga person, Compassion. We used to belong to the same writing site but she felt that she had to move on so we never truly spoke to one another. Which is a shame because I've found a wonderful friend in this person with whom I share a great many interests.
Isn't it odd that a person you see(or read in this case) on a daily basis, you don't even give a second thought to until they are gone? I suppose that is life too. We don't ever tell loved ones that they're loved until we stand over their caskets or are waving goodbye as they drive away. I know that is human nature but I still don't know why we do that....
One of the nicest things about the electronic age is that you get a second chance to connect with a person that you might not have in another time or place.....
Question of the day: How many of you are guilty of just that? Do you attempt to amend this and how?
Compassion, I really enjoyed talking with you. Would you believe that we spent over 2 hours on the phone! SouthWestern Bell is gonna love me!
Catch ya later
