HAPPY MOM'S DAY

TO EVERYONE

(WARNING: PICTURES OF ME INCLUDED!!!!)

Yes, yes it's one of the many Mother's Day blog that you will see here. Mine will be no different.

My little red-headed heathens, as we have preferred to call them, are like most. They steal your hearts when they're young, test your patience, irritate, escalate your emotions, piss you off in more ways than one and generally make you glad that you are their parent.   After all, who else would have them?

My children did not come quietly into the night, but screaming into the morning. Both came into this world at...well let's just say the phrase,'came into this world with their own Samosite luggage' would describe thier initial weight. Jess who is now, at 13, 5'5 1/2" tall come in at 23" long.

Aly, who is only 10 and 5', entered [as usual] right behind her sister at 22 inches.

I have been blessed with a daughter with Asperger's Syndrome and another with Inattentive ADD. I say 'blessed' because I believe that it has shaped both their characters as well as my own.

That watching 'em grow thing does have a tendency to not only wear on you, bring you down at the thought of what their future will be but heightens your emotions and intellect to what awaits them and you. Future scares the hell out of me these days but also excites me to think what they might become. The people they become is due in large part what I have taught them. And I'll giv e a little credit to dear ol' Dad just because he might read this.

Scary? Hell yes. But exhilarating just the same.

I just hope I make it through to the end. But that is the plight of an older parent with children that have blessed with those more rocky paths than others.

My children are oil and vinegar both with the hearts on their sleeves. They will never be hard but always too sensitive for their own good. And against a harsh and hard world, I hope that will be enough. It will have to be.

The greater powers have blessed me for a reason as I bless the world with what has been loaned to me...for a short time anyway.

Happy Mother's Day

A beautiful family And gotta love the red hair - since I am a redhead too And you are so "right on" it is scary to raise children, esp. if they are sensitive to others, and wear their heart on the sleeve. Mine are like that too - they get it from me Blessed is a wonderful term for it as well. I have one son with add and he occasionally gets depressed pretty bad too, due to being picked on at school. My heart hurts for him many times. But, I am so very blessed to have him, and two other wonderful children!

I love being a Mom!!!

Many blessings, ~Helena
