What gets me is the fact that the "What's happening to my body" book for girls is banned more often than the equivalent book for boys....

I can't believe how many of MY VERY favorite books are on that list. I just don't get it....and I don't mean a little I mean I REALLY don't get it at all. How absolutely heartbreaking.

Some of those I can understand why they've been challenged, but others just confuses me...Why The Adventures of Tom Sawyer? Why the Earth's Children Series (My ABSOLUTE favorite series. Ever!)? I can sort of understand James and the Giant Peach, I didn't read it, but the movie made me think that everyone was on acid in it. I would do the list thing, but the sad part is I haven't read most of those books, so I wouldn't want to embarrass myself.

Reading "Tom Sawyer" and "How to Eat Fried Worms" out loud to the girls set us up, for the whole day, with fits of laughter.  Granted, I don't know a lot of the books you had on your list, but I do know the ones we enjoyed and brought our family closer together.   Reading to all my girls has been a joy and priviledge! - Rachel
