  • I don't believe that love is the natural state of human beings. Love is a conscious perspective to live through, and an effort put forth on the individual's part. It's not so much a noun as it is a verb.

But can there exist a perfect love in any relationship? I don't think so, and not in my experience. It is impossible to sate each other's need for love because we will from time to time default to instinct desires and live as though we intended to hurt, consequently hurting others. That is the flaw of being human, and that is why we are not God, just the image of Him.

Assuming, of course, that love is a thing of value. At the moment, however, it has receded to the level of trivial.

I don't need it. To do such a thing again -- to 'love people' -- always comes and bites me in the ass. It's such bullshit, and I hate it.

Here I am, after the catharsis.

    Whatever.

I disagree- (of course I would...)
I don't think love is an effort- look at a baby, the first thing they feel for you will be love. I've always believed that "a child will love you until you do something to stop it". It's unconditional, that also means it's very very easy. But children are also ignorant of the nuances of "being human" which means a lot of emotions, a lot of hurt, anger, and hate. But I still believe love IS the natural state, nature has a way of expressing beauty, not pain. Maybe what you're saying is that we're the ones cast from Eden, thus not a part of natural love anymore. But I disagree with that too, we're still part of creation.

And as for perfect love in a relationship- believe in it, even if it doesn't happen. Faith is a very strong determining factor in how you'll live your life, faith in love is no different. The flaw of being human means we will get angry, we will hate, but through all that we can still love. You might get angry at someone but you might also never stop loving them.

I'm speaking from the sunny side of the sky, I'm here and I believe in it.
