Fall Break is here! Although I don't get a break, I'm glad that those of you who are CU students have the opportunity for a little R&R. I imagine some of you "working people" long for the days when a break was something that actually occurred with regularity in your life.

I am headed over to PA for a meeting with the Officer's Christian Fellowship Board of Directors. It's a six hour drive so I am taking some Mars Hill CD's as well as some other audio teachings.

I got to thinking: If I could spend these six hours in the car talking with someone, who would it be? Of course, Jesus was my first choice (go right to the top!) but after that I came up with an interesting list of people. Before I share it, who would YOU spend that time with? It may be hard to come up with just one, so maybe give your top three. Tell me why, too.

As Paul McCartney would say to C. S. Lewis (whoops, I just gave away two of my list), "I wanna hold your hand."

Have a blessed day!

Besides Jesus..

The Apostle Paul.  Goodness, I'd have so much stuff to ask that man.

Oh, why. One and three because they're brilliant and have taught me lots and I'd love to have them all to myself to talk to for six hours, and number two is somewhat self explanatory because I love and miss them lots.

Wow, tough question. Well, aside from Jesus, my top six would probably be...(in no particular order)

1. J.R.R. Tolkien - because I think his books are great (Lord of the Rings) and I would love to hear how he came up with his ideas

2. President Bush - how often do you get to talk one on one with the President of the United States?!

3. My grandma on my dad's side - she passed away when I was eight and I have wondered what she would think of me now and what advice she would offer.

4. David, son of Jesse (the one from the Bible ) - I have always liked the Psalms and thought it would be interesting to meet the "man after God's own heart."

5. Elisabeth Elliot - I have read Passion and Purity and another one of her books and I really appreciate her wisdom and honesty.

6. Adam, the first man - I would love to hear about what it was like to walk with God in the Garden of Eden...and I would also like to ask him why he ate that fruit!

Wow, the more I think about it, the longer I could make this list! I better stop now before I am up all night!

God Bless!

Can you ride in cars with dead people? Hmm.

1) Cecilia Cheung

2) Francois Truffaut (yes he's dead)

3) Noam Chomsky

But actually I'd consider six hours of discussion with any of my close friends a great thing. The question is, would they say the same about me??? Hmmmmmmmm...

Oops, I also forgot the "why"

1) Because I'm male.

2) Brilliant director.

3) Interesting political commentary, but I think I'll amend number three and sub in Quentin Tarantino. We'll talk about Asian films. It'll be grand.

1) Francis Schaeffer - I love philosophy, especially dialoguing from a Christian perspective.

2) Orson Scott Card - an absolutely brilliant author who has a very deep and interesting perspective on the universe

3) C.S. Lewis - another brilliant man whose writing I have enjoyed very much

Did you notice that they are all authors and all have a philosophical perspective?

Speaking of which, a shameless plug for a forum for those who enjoy discussing theology, philosophy, the meaning of life, etc. It's a forum set up by a friend of mine and is thus far comprised of mostly Cedarville alumni (we certainly welcome current students students, too) who enjoy thinking deeply about our culture, stretching one another intellectually and spiritually. We're always looking for others who enjoy the same. It can be found at:

My top three:

1.  John Clauson, my brother.
2.  Denny Weinman, my roommate.
3.  Kristyn Gledhill, a forensics teammate.

Why?  John's my best friend in the world and we have so much fun together.  Denny's great to be around, and is two out of eight roommates (yes, over four years at CU  ) who I get along really well with.  Kristyn because she has to be one of the funniest and genuine people that I know.

1. Katie Bergeron.  Her and I get along really well...and even though we did break up, we're still best of friends...so i guess she's one

2. Paul, amazing testimony, just one problem...unless he speaks in tongues, it'll be a confusing chat

3. Dr. Northcutt.  What a really really smart guy.  I think we'd have an interesting chat for 6 hours, id come out either a lot smarter, or if he gets frustrated...one eye short...

4. Franklin.  That turtle from the kid's books...there's a lot i learned from those books when i was a kid...

1. My husband, Andrew - because even though we live together, we often don't have enough time to just TALK and LAUGH.

2.  My daughter Isabel, 20 years from now - I'd like to know what I could have done better when she was young...

3.  My brother Seth - he's been struggling for awhile.  I wish we could just talk so I could understand.

4.  Nancy DeMoss - my longtime friend and mentor.  She has so much wisdom.

5.  Rich Mullins - With Christ now, but I've learned so much from his writings.  I would love to hear his perspective on a few things...

6.  Joanna - My roommate from college...  what went wrong?

First, as a concrete answer (a person that I know exists), Joan of Arc. I have always been intrigued by her mindset and courage. A little Q&A time with her would make any day complete

Second, out of curiousity, my future husband - should it be in God's will for me to marry. I'd like to meet them just to see what they were like as a kid, a teen, an adult...how fun

I like to laugh so Connan O'brein...Paul from the old Bible b/c I think he'd have alot to say that would change me and the way I live (I wouldnt want to talk to JC b/c I dont want to ruin the surprise!!).... and My old youth pastor Scott Dewitt... He went to paraguay as a missionary and he was one of the most passionate, funny, wise, godly men I have ever met... and Dr. Brown I think you would also be fun to talk to for 6 hrs because of the same reasons I'd like to talk to Scott Dewitt.

I think my top 3 would have to be my 3 friends: Mike, Greg, and John-Mark.   We have such good fun together and we always grow together in the Lord when we're around each other!  I wish I could spend 10 hrs. in a car with them.

Oh wait, I did!!! Yeah for Fall break.  And we have a surprise gift for you too!
