I am in a different world. This is unlike anything I have ever experienced before. On Tuesday we went to a school and I felt like I was in a missionary home video. The children are so beautiful here. The women also. When you look at them, they appear so hard, but then you smile and they open up their soul to you. It's a beautiful thing.
There are no road rules here, seriously. It's quite an adventure every time we get into a rickshaw (small 3-wheeled taxi). I'm surprised we haven't gotten into any accidents.
The YWAM base outside of Pune is gorgeous! The people are so friendly. We had an orientation yesterday, which was so good, because we learned a lot about the culture. It will be quite a challenge I think because when we walk down the street EVERYONE stares at us, no joke, and the men especially think that we are "loose" as Western girls, so we need to be extra careful.
Our contact guy Arun is so great. He understands western culture so much, and he's a blast to be around.
Indian shopping is an experience of its own. We will buy punjabs and sarees, so that's some good news.
Please pray for unity in the team. At the moment it's really well, but there are some struggles. Also, for continued good health. Sini (one of the leaders) was very ill yesterday, but she's much better today. If you could just pray that she will stay that way. |
