Dolores was walking around asking if there was anything we wanted from Office Depot.  Usually I say no, but for some reason I actually remembered what I wanted her to get.

"Yeah.  I want you to get a little sign for the front door that says No Soliciting."

"I would love that, but Tom won't let me get one.  I want one for the phone too."

I don't think it would work on the phone and I have no idea what Tom's hang up is.  I'll have to ask him tomorrow if I remember, he's already taken off for today.

It reminded me though, about working for PsychNetwork.  We had a no soliciting sign on the door.  The problem is, the company CEO, in an attempt to save advertising dollars, was spamming the world. This pretty much killed the company, which was dying anyway.

Anyway, none of the regular ISP providers allow that, so once our ISP got a complaint that he was doing that, he'd come and shut us down and then we'd have to find a new one. Eventually, of course, you get a rep and no one will deal with you.

The ISP guy came in and we were talking and he started laughing. "Don't you think that's pretty two-faced?  Having a sign on the door that says No Soliciting, and then going out and spamming everyone."

"Oh sure," I said.  "But I only work here.  I'm not responsible for the company's behavior."

On a side story, Tom came in yesterday to tell me we're merging our business with that of a 63-year-old CPA who's having a lot of health issues and can't keep up with her practice anymore.

"She does a lot of trusts," he said.  I made a face.  "You're going to have to learn to do them eventually."  I know how to do them, I just don't like them.

"I suspose I should sit with Joan and learn the VA stuff as well?"

"Oh yeah," he says.  "That's a good idea."  I should know better than to volunteer for things.  Today he mentioned that I need to go sit for the E.A. test.

"Don't I need to have a certain amount of credits for that?"  He said no, you don't need the continuing education credits until after you pass. Somehow, that doesn't make sense but...whatever.

Bleck.  When does hockey season start?  I'm bored.
