The awards keep piling up for the Snappers after one of their most successful seasons in franchise history.  Rob Delaney was selected by MiLB.com as the Class A Reliever of the Year on Wednesday.  Delaney was selected ahead of relievers from both the Midwest League and the South Atlantic League.

Rob spent the first three months of the summer with the Snappers, going  1-0 with a 0.77 ERA in 46.2 innings pitched.  Delaney had an  impressive 56 strikeouts while only walking six in 36 appearances.  Opponents  batted just .152 against the right hander.

Delaney was most known for the way he closed out games for the  Snappers, setting the franchise mark for saves in a season with 28.  He was a  ridiculous 28 of 29 in save opportunities and only allowed one home run as a Snapper.

Just four days after breaking the Snappers’ saves record, Delaney was promoted to the Twins’ Class High A Affiliate Fort Myers Miracle.  Rob continued to sparkle for the Miracle going 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA.  He was seven for seven in save opportunities while striking out 27 batters in 23.1 innings pitched.

Rob, a 2006 graduate of St. Johns University in New York, was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent on June 19, 2006.  Born on September 8, 1984, Delaney resides in River Vale, New Jersey in the off-season.

Delaney, who spent the 2nd half of the 2007 season with the Fort Myers Miracle, is currently attending Fall Instructional League at the Lee County Sportsplex in Fort Myers, Fl.

"It was kind of surprising," Delaney Was quoted as saying in a Miracle press release.  "I was just excited with the way things were going. Everything just seemed to work out well this year."
