| | I shall begin by telling the tale of the sleeping porch prank. As many of you know, I live in what many affectionately call an orphanage. Miller Scholarship Hall has two "sleeping porches." We have one cold porch and one warm porch, depending on what temperature you like best. The porches are kept dark and--usually--quiet at all times. A few of us really like to pull pranks on the porch. Last semester, one of my friends and I short-sheeted all the new women's beds. In return, a couple of my new women friends wrapped my bottom bunk with wrapping paper and blue twinkle lights inside. My bed shone a splendid blue that night as I walked onto the porch.
My friend Michaela has also put tons of batteries into someones fitted sheet, double mattressed someone, and even Saran wrapped somone into her bed without her waking up.
This time, Michaela's roommate came home from the pharmacy where she works with 3 industrial sized bags full of...PACKING PEANUTS!!! She and Michaela, while all of us were unaware in the afternoon, emptied the contents of all 3 bags in-between the sheets of all the beds on the sleeping porch. Here are the after-effects:
All the girls, luckily, thought the prank was hilarious. It was especially fun to watch people get into their beds. My friend Krissy sleeps in the top bunk above me and she ferociously swept her bed as I watched tons of packing peanuts fall all around me. In the morning, you could hear everyone loudly crunching over all the piles all around the beds. Also, someone later put a sign on the porch door that said, "It's so cold...it's snowing!"
Alright, on to a picture update since my last post.
1) a visit to Fenae and Jenna's new apartment:
Here I am in the UCM library in the elementary education resource area.
Connie points out a relic of old that still exists in one of the buildings on campus.
A castle on the campus of UCM! Connie and I visit our two friends quite often, but had not really toured around campus much. We sure did this time.
Watermelon smoothies (non-alcoholic)!
2) The Labor Day meeting in Iowa
Thomas holds a disgusting new children's drink called...Belly Washer. It looked sick!
This is my all-time favorite picture of Jenna. It's just so colorful.
Mini golfing!
Mother and daughter--very cute!
Erin hides in the brush.
3) A giant moth that hangs out on the wall of Wal-Mart in Lawrence. I saw him two nights in a row when I had to go to Wal-Mart twice in a row.
4) Wildflowers from my Mom's garden. I'm still clinging to any signs of summer left.
5) While Aunt Kyra was out for Great Aunt Ruth's funeral, she came to Lawrence and I got to see her!
6) a collection of cousin pictures
Emerald wearing her pretty purple dress one Sunday recently. She is such a lady!
Moses doing what he loves. This was taken awhile ago, but Moses loves singing! He marches right into the church building and picks out who he will be sitting with, then says, "Song!" and reaches for a song book to put on his lap. When the song leader gets up front, Moses declares, "Jesus!" and puts everyone in the mood to sing. He also sings jubilantly with everyone else.
The handsome Glen Woody boys. This was taken at the Gregory meeting this past weekend.
