Sleeping Porch Prank and other pictures

I shall begin by telling the tale of the sleeping porch prank. As many of you know, I live in what many affectionately call an orphanage. Miller Scholarship Hall has two "sleeping porches." We have one cold porch and one warm porch, depending on what temperature you like best. The porches are kept dark and--usually--quiet at all times. A few of us really like to pull pranks on the porch. Last semester, one of my friends and I short-sheeted all the new women's beds. In return, a couple of my new women friends wrapped my bottom bunk with wrapping paper and blue twinkle lights inside. My bed shone a splendid blue that night as I walked onto the porch.

My friend Michaela has also put tons of batteries into someones fitted sheet, double mattressed someone, and even Saran wrapped somone into her bed without her waking up.

This time, Michaela's roommate came home from the pharmacy where she works with 3 industrial sized bags full of...PACKING PEANUTS!!! She and Michaela, while all of us were unaware in the afternoon, emptied the contents of all 3 bags in-between the sheets of all the beds on the sleeping porch. Here are the after-effects:

All the girls, luckily, thought the prank was hilarious. It was especially fun to watch people get into their beds. My friend Krissy sleeps in the top bunk above me and she ferociously swept her bed as I watched tons of packing peanuts fall all around me. In the morning, you could hear everyone loudly crunching over all the piles all around the beds. Also, someone later put a sign on the porch door that said, "It's so cold...it's snowing!"

Alright, on to a picture update since my last post.

1) a visit to Fenae and Jenna's new apartment:

A castle on the campus of UCM! Connie and I visit our two friends quite often, but had not really toured around campus much. We sure did this time.

Watermelon smoothies (non-alcoholic)!

2) The Labor Day meeting in Iowa

Thomas holds a disgusting new children's drink called...Belly Washer. It looked sick!

This is my all-time favorite picture of Jenna. It's just so colorful.

A giant moth that hangs out on the wall of Wal-Mart in Lawrence. I saw him two nights in a row when I had to go to Wal-Mart twice in a row.

Wildflowers from my Mom's garden. I'm still clinging to any signs of summer left.

5) DSCF2034
While Aunt Kyra was out for Great Aunt Ruth's funeral, she came to Lawrence and I got to see her!

6) a collection of cousin pictures

Moses doing what he loves. This was taken awhile ago, but Moses loves singing! He marches right into the church building and picks out who he will be sitting with, then says, "Song!" and reaches for a song book to put on his lap. When the song leader gets up front, Moses declares, "Jesus!" and puts everyone in the mood to sing. He also sings jubilantly with everyone else.

The handsome Glen Woody boys. This was taken at the Gregory meeting this past weekend.

MMm...watermelon.  I'm so glad you have a picture of Emerald in that dress.  I didn't get a picture of her that day.  I don't know if it will be warm enough for that one the next time she gets around to it. :)

Those pranking stories are very entertaining.  I had some good dorm times, but I'm sure none could compare to the craziness that results from group sleeping.

That was a hilarious prank on the sleeping porch.  Who could go wrong with packing peanuts?  Remember the pictures of Emery wallowing around in a box full of that when he was about 2? ha!  Great picture I took of you and Kyra.  You don't look like you felt that night!  Woody cousins are sure handsome!  Cute about Moses the song leader.

Amazing! I can't say I was ever affected by a sleeping porch prank in my 3 years. They've gone rampant ever since Michaela came. Who cleaned all that up?

thanks so much for the picture of dockery!  how i miss walking the campus over there at ucm (cmsu to those who are old school...and central missouri college if your old, old school).  fall was by far the prettiest time there on campus and i really miss going outside for several hours of the day with my drawing board and sketching away and people watching.  good times.....just like it looks like you're having in all the pictures about.  p.s.--love the picture of jenna...it made me giggle:)

Great pictures! :) looks like you've had a lot of fun with the pranking. Those are some priceless memories!!

Those watermelon smoothies remind me of what Apache and I made not too long ago - we just chopped and de-seeded a watermelon, blended it, and added sugar and water. I saw your lime slices and thought, aaaw, why didn't we think to put lime in ours? Anyway, watermelon is good any way you have it I think. Another idea for a drink with it that I had, though I haven't tried it yet, would be mixing it was soda (like 7up or sprite, or even unflavored), and possibly strawberries as well. Anyways....

Looks like you've been having fun. I wish I could have gone to the Gregory meeting this year. Maybe next year (that has become my motto it seems!)

All my travel money, etc has been taken up by CA trip in two weeks!!! I get to go watch Jonathan graduate!!!! I am, though, very sad at the fact that I must leave Elena and Apache home. It's because of money and also something we need prayers for (don't worry nothing life or marriage threatening), but nonetheless I feel like such an awful parent leaving Elena. But Apache's going to take vacation days and spend them all with her.

Anyway! Lest this become lengthy and email-y I shall close. Great update.

Hey.  I really like your pics!  Especially the rubbish picture.  I also really like the picture of you and Jenna minigolfing.  That is a very good picture of both of you!

I was just thinking to myself how much I like my roommate.  Jenna is pretty much the coolest roommate anyone could ask for.  And she is a laugh a minute!  You are very lucky to have such an amazing soulmate!

What a fun bunch of ladies to live with to be able to enjoy the occassional prank. I think pranks are the best way to keep humor in your life and to loosen up when you're stressed out.

I'm going to visit miss fenae and jenna tomorrow, i cannot wait. Isn't the UCM campus pretty?? Great pics I too enjoyed your pic of Jenna. That drink thing that Thomas was holding up did look and sound a bit grotesque. Anywho, see ya this weekend Lord willing!!

So, those belly washer things...my kids say they're pretty good. Chris got them some quite a while ago...they had Power Rangers or Bob the Builder or something like that on the top so the boys really liked them. And Alex said they tasted good too. We reused the bottles several times before they were thrown out. Sometimes things that look gross to us grownups are wonderful to kids...

I think you exceeded the entertainment limit on this one - well done with lots of smiles and laughs, and the picture and comment about Moses was my favorite, too.
