  • Manny from 24 to 99

Well, October is here, and that means baseball post-season.

The following excerpt from this article (actually footnote #17 from the article) is a classic Manny moment:

After Manny crushed a home run in September '05, the camera caught him excitedly telling Schilling about it afterward, and somewhere along the way, Schilling just started staring at him in disbelief, like Manny had said something like, "I knew it was going to be a slider because I started craving a pork sandwich, and that always means a slider's coming!"  Finally, Manny hopped away as Schilling shook his head in shock, like he was thinking, "Wow, he might be the dumbest guy who has ever walked this earth."  When I asked Schilling about it a few months later (in a "Curious Guy" column) and wondered how many times that happened with Manny, Schilling responded, "Three or four times a day."  Schilling and Manny were like oil and water.
