  • Influenza

    Turning eighteen made me feel just a wee bit indestructible.

    It seemed that on January 1, everything would start to fall in place and go in the right direction.  The lunar new year would bring about the year of the rat and new beginnings would arrive accordingly.  Things were falling into place.  I received my first college acceptance letters.  The days were growing longer; the first signs of spring were here.

    All I had was to look towards the future and see promise.  My financial aid forms were all in, and all my previous troubles had been resolved.  The year of the pig was finally coming to an end.  (If you're Chinese, you know what I mean by BAD YEAR.)

    As the lunar new year rolls around, I catch the flu!  I am stuck in bed for three days straight, taking Amoxicillin (generic for Amoxil), Tylenol extra strength, and over the counter cough medication - my own concoction to cure myself.  I eat porridge with sweet pickled cucumbers and the salty black beans.   My "presidential" weekend is wasted (if not ruinned), and what is worse is that I could not stand the sight of delectable food at our family's 'closing of new year's banquet.'   I sat in a corner by the door, away from everyone else at my grandmother house, coughing and hacking in blankets warning all the little ones to stay away from me.

    What was the point of this weblog?  I guess there is no point.  Turning 18 means nothing except that you can buy smokes and lottery tickets?  Oh, I HIGHLY ADVISE everyone who reads this post to go buy a mega millions and superlotto ticket.  I mean, I'm not that into gambling either, but the prize is just too high not to at least try.

    No way she's faking it. She's completely lost her mind.

    @SUNG14 -

    Or maybe she's just really really stupid...

    I mean, I've had 'musical training' and it's not all that hard to carry a note.  Not to mention she's already been caught lip syncing.

    Either way, we all saw this coming.  I'll take your word for it.  She's not faking.
