  • Obamamania

My music theory teacher brought up a good point today.  It explains why I support Hillary, and would rather vote for Nader than vote for Obama.

Obama is a good speaker.  The reason why he is winning this nomination is because he has a clean slate.  He's  already admitted to all his wrongdoings in his book, The Audacity of Hope, thus making the false view that his past is unimportant.  He has copied all of Hillary's policies, thus doing the safest thing - adopting the policies of the, at the time, Democratic front runner.  But let me reiterate, Obama is a good speaker.  He didn't write most of his speeches, but he's a good speaker.  Charismatic man, really.

I'm moved by actions, not words.

By all means, I've never been racist in my life.  Perhaps biased, but not racist.  The reasons that I see why people are voting for Obama are because he is black, and supporting the black guy has been the 'in' thing for Democrats since the advent of the idea that all black people can sing, play basketball, and gee, run fast.  (You know what I'm talking about.)  Think about it... If Obama was a white guy, and there was a white guy on the cover of The Audacity of Hope, and, hypothetically, Obama was a white man with the same credentials, same experience, same charisma, same record, and so forth, Obama would never have received the support of Oprah and the Oprah bandwagon.  Obama would never have received media about him being WHOOOO the black candidate.  Obama would never have received the kind of celebrity attention he has had, etc etc etc.  So the idea is kind of... you're voting for Obama either because he's black or because he's a great speaker. That's pretty much his campaign in a nutshell.

Though his record seems clean and the media wont point out the obvious by sighting Obama's record, that does not by any means mean that his record is clean.  His record may be cleaner that Hillary's but that's because Hillary has been in the spotlight and has been dealing with policy since before her husband's presidency.  Obama is a first year Senator.  FIRST-YEAR-SENATOR

    Actions speak louder than words.

For some reason... I feel as though Obama is simply making empty promises of change.  It's easy to make change... but can he make change for the better?

    ...

I hope the Democrats are right, because, if he fucks up or gets shot, I'm blaming all you idiots who are voting for him simply because he's a good speaker.  Great, you're voting for a guy because he has good speaking skills.  You're not voting for him because he has proven himself, and not because he has had an outstanding record of helping Americans all across America.  No, not because he's experience, and not because you've sincerely thought it over in your mind and really think he has what it takes to get his policies through Congress.  No, you're not voting supporting him because he champions a cause, you're voting for him because he preeches about change.  You're support the guy either because everybody else seems to be supporting him, it's the 'in' thing to be supporting him, or because his speech really "touched" you.

Good, you've proven yourselves to be an uninformed voter.  I hope you all catch the flu, like how you're catching Obamamania.  Yes, catch the flu.  Go suffer.  When Obama's plans comes back and blow up in his face, when Obama's 6 month plan to get the troops out of Iraq takes longer than 6 months, when Obama's healthcare reform turns out to not be a reform at all, when Obama ignores the immigration issue, when Obama cannot deal with the economic downturn, when and if Obama wins the election, and screws up...  Ugh.

In the case that Hillary does lose, I AM voting for Nader.  I mean, he's helped to found several agencies important to federal government today.  He's done a lot...

    Actions speak louder than words.

I'd rather vote for Nader than Obama.

Don't get me started on McCain and his thousand years Iraq War.

I hate politics.  Edwards shoudl have won.  If he had won, this whole entire make history bullshit would be long forgotten.

[edit:  Michelle Obama said that she was finally proud to be an American.  I mean... you can, not be proud of how the country is being run, or what your country is doing, but... .]
