| | Hook 'em, Horns! I like Vince Young. He's had a great
attitude the whole season-long. Not overly confident to the point
of hubris, but an easy-going peace about his situation and all the
success he was experiencing. Repeatedly, he thought about his
situation and simply said he was "very blessed."
Quotes from Vince Young, Texas' quarterback, on Jay Leno on Thursday night (from Houston Chronicle):
"Everybody's talking about are you going to turn pro,"
Leno said. "Here's your chance. You only have to answer the question that one
time: Are you going to turn pro?"
"Whew! I don't know," Young said during the seven-minute
segment. "I have to sit down with my family, pray with my pastor and listen to
how the NFL guys feel about me. After that, I'll sit with Coach (Mack) Brown and
make that big decision."
Less than 24 hours after he rallied Texas to a stunning
41-38 victory over defending national champion Southern California in the Rose
Bowl, things had not slowed down for Young.
He admitted getting little sleep as the Longhorns
celebrated into the wee hours, and by 8 a.m. Thursday he joined Brown and
teammates Michael Huff and David Thomas at a Beverly Hills hotel to pick up four
trophies signifying the Longhorns' first undisputed national title since
1969.
"The tears hit me lying in bed," Young said. "I was able
to sit outside on the balcony and talk to the man upstairs."
On The Tonight Show, Young
said fulfilling a promise to his mother, Felicia, to complete his degree will be
one factor in his decision. When reminded the Houston Texans own the No. 1 pick
in the draft, Young told Leno "that will play a major part in the decision."
