Yikes, I'm going to have to pass on this...
So the kids and I are "doing" Catholic Mosaic and I was on Amazon looking up the books for October that I don't have and I was particularly excited about one book, Father Phillip Tells a Ghost Story, because it sounded like a fun book. It must be out of print because only 1 seller had 1 copy and it is.......$60.00
Hopefully the library will have this because we won't be buying it from Amazon, lol!

A quick "Simple Woman" blog
Outside My Window… There is a slight breeze. The trees are still bright, blazing green, the sun is shining and the temperature is just right.I am thinking… about the soup I am making and my need to type fast to get this done before I need to add the last ingredients.I am thankful for… my husband and my children. From the kitchen… I ate up the last of the Pioneer Woman Chicken Spaghetti for lunch. You all HAVE to make this!I am wearing… a pair of old black pants and a homeschooling t-shirt.I am creating… a hamburger-vegetable soup.I am going… to take a shower as soon as the soup is done!I am reading… The Bishops's Daughter, Daughters Of Lancaster County book 3I am hoping… that we have good weather for our field trip this week.I am hearing… the ending of yet another Goosebumps show courtesy of Cartoon Network.Around the house… shoes, it is an unending battle to get them all in the pantry. One of my favorite things… evenings with no scheduled activities.A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: The usual; choir, scouts, baseball, Frontier Girls plus a really cool field trip to an Alpaca Farm and a cool science class by Linda Bailey on composting. Here is picture thought I am sharing… Hmm...I don't know if I have anything handy, let's see what I have in photobucket. This is the girls in the bathtub just a few weeks ago.

One reason why I homeschool....
I just received this email from a member of our Board of County Supervisors. This is verbatim, "The school board. I know, it sucks." That is hysterical, sad, but hysterical. THIS is why I

My husband is the best husband
in the world.
He just came home and was greeted with a bathroom full of puke courtesy of Ellie. I am SO glad he came home when he did because if he hadn't he'd have been cleaning up mine as well.
He is definitely a saint! I don't know what is wrong with my poor baby. She doesn't have a fever and was fine a couple of hours ago. At bedtime she came in and said she didn't feel well and could she sleep with me. I, in a very motherly way, rolled my eyes and let her lay down figuring it was all a big ploy. I went downstairs to help Stephen with something and that is when it struck.
The bathroom and Ellie are all cleaned up now and she is drifting asleep next to me, sweet baby.Speaking of babies....the twins just popped 4 teeth in the last 2 weeks.
After months of teething they just all came in at once. It was really cute because they both got a top and bottom first and then the corresponding top and bottom a few days later. None of my other kids ever did that, they all got 2 bottom, then 2 top. They are also crawling like champs  and Natalie is pulling herself up to standing as of today. This is all going WAY too fast, lol!Homeschooling is going great. We are in week 3 and the kids are really in a groove. They are getting all of their work done in a really reasonable amount of time and they are doing chores without complaint. Fridays are practically free days, by design, so we are all really unstressed, which is so refreshingly different from school last year.
Speaking of school....one of the reasons for pulling them out was the "pretend math" program known as Investigations in Number, Space and Time. So it was edifying to see the SOL and SDMT's scores come back LOWER for the county this year than they were in previous years. But get this, I am the problem. Yes, me and parents like me who dared to question the county's choice of the program. Evidently we created enough confusion amongst all parents and teachers that we caused scores to drop across the county.
Okey, dokey then. I do have to admit the first week of going back to Math-U-See was tough. Ellie still complains that homeschool math is too hard, but they are adjusting nicely and making good progress, no thanks to a completely wasted year of math last year. God bless my kids' teachers, they did try to work around the program and teach them "real" math but the kids just found it confusing more than anything. Sigh. That's plenty for now. I'll post more about homeschooling as we go along. If you made it this far, thanks!

So here is a shameless plug for my friend Robyn who sells the most delicious soaps and sprays. http://www.robynsnestboutique.com Her bags are really cute too. Please take a minute to check out her site and pass it on to friends!
