~Wordless Wednesday~

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

If I'm home and the weather is decent I almost always see them walk around the orchard. That's what they're doing right now. If we are outside they stop to talk to "Andy and Clayton". Makes me smile since outside of Chad and Seth I have rarely heard our oldest called "Andy". She never wants to stand still long and is always asking, you know in one of those not so asking tones "can we go now?". He likes to chat a little about the weather, the garden, his roses. In the summer they take their little walk before it gets to hot, this time of year they wait til it warms up in the afternoon. Today they are walking in the overcast cool afternoon.  They are a living example of "til death do us part". He takes good care of her. She doesn't remember us from day to day. He is her protector...and almost always wears a hard hat:)

It's been a timely study for me...this subject of not being "slanderers". To mature in the Lord so that I use my mouth to minister good instead of gossiping. That I would realize that what comes out of my mouth affects every person I come in contact with.

"she opens her mouth with wisdon and on her tongue is the law of kindness" Prov 31:26

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer." Ps 19:14

"whoever spreads slander is a fool" Prov. 10:18

I've been thinking since Sunday morning about living my life backwards like we heard about.  To not live life for myself. I find the Lord wanting to cut away the ugliness in my heart and "purify for Himself His own special people"! titus 2:14

The kids have been running high since Friday. Well really they have been ever since they found out that Friday was coming. It was a weekend filled with friends and family coming and going...Clayton said Friday morning "this is going to be such a fun day, we are having so much company!" Reality was Nic was bringing her kids in the morning and a few people were coming for dinner. Not that it takes very many to fill up our house:) We had a very fun day...and productive! the gotta get something done side of me likes that:)

Saturday Nathan and I experienced our first ever Assyrian wedding...didn't understand a bit of it;) A cultural experience... So interesting though how there seemed to me such a disconnect between what they do in the church and all the formality of a religious ceremony and the way they party...still we were glad to be included and it is important to Nathan that the guys that work for him know that he cares about who they are...not just that they do their job at work.

Our weekend finished up with a birthday party for Grandma Jill...

chocolate mayo cake with chocolate frosting for the lady who has a reputation for hiding various kinds of chocolate around her house...

We met up at the park to enjoy the last of the sunlight and then came back here for dinner...

She's never happier than when she has a grandchild, or 7, to hold. God has blessed me to be a part of my husband's family and get to know the people who have had much influence in shaping the kind hearted man of God to whom I am married. Our kids are blessed to have Granparents who love the Lord! And we had quite a fun family    night!

Evan loves to be outside...

time for a little bocce...

Grandpa wasn't paying attention to his two youngest grandsons and I think that Trey was a little helpless to defend himself!

and all that is within me, bless His HOLY name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And forget not all His benefits."

We enjoyed a day off school today...a little extra fun was on the schedule and I found myself a mom of six for a few hours. Much easier than being a mom of 6 day in and day out I'm sure. I managed to burn part of their lunch! It's fun to watch them all interact since after Sunday evening I wondered if they even liked each other...

she wanted to swing so he grabbed on to her swing too and pumped to keep them both going...

ever wonder where those balloons that you let go of disappear to??? today some came out of the sky to our back yard......

I think she would have stayed on the swings all day as long as she had someone to push her...

rarely could all of them be found in one spot...

What a fun and out of the ordinary Tuesday morning we had!

november already.....I love to see the budget flip to a new month, I feel like it's a clean slate...meal planning, stocking up, and looking forward to not just getting through the holidays but really enjoying them!!!

The boys were determined to get their kite in the air yesterday.  They tried, they ran, they untangled string, they ran....it just wouldn't stay up.

I was just thankful that it kept them occupied for a while actually doing something together. They aren't naturally the best of friends. They are like black and white the way they interact and react to things. But I see them more and more realizing the fun in doing something with someone vs. going off by themselves to do their own thing. It is an important thing in life. If they solve their fighting by just letting it be and going off on their own I question if they are really learning what they need to to work through difficult relationships.

and in the midst of all the kite flying and baseball playing Evan sits in his swing...happy to get a push from one sibling or another.....

election day! it's made me think about my life and the things I take for granted. I've wrestled with uncertainty and often wondered what our lives will look like a year or ten from now.  I guess I've come to a place (or at least am on my way there) of seeing the importance of letting my voice be heard, and then to rest in Him knowing that no matter the outcome on state and national issues my focus in life is to bring glory to my heavenly Father.  Will it be under increased opposition...very likely! Even if "things" going the way we want them to there will be opposition to Christ...there always has been, always will be. So we will vote and take a stand for life! and no matter how things go we will keep walking one foot in front of the other for the Lord!
"be of good cheer I have overcome the world"
