Thank you for praying for my living arrangement. I'd like to share with you the miraculous signs and wonders, the mighty hand and outstretched arm of God by how He answered this particular prayer.
Several weeks ago, my friend told me to email her if I had no place to stay in Singapore. Well, I decided to ask her for clarification three days ago and through the flurry of exchanges that followed, found her parents extending an incredibly generous offer: they would either sponsor my rent if I room with a host family or allow me to live in an empty house of theirs rent free.
They kindly provided the former option because they didn't want me to immediately be overwhelmed with the responsibilities of caring for a house and garden after moving to a new country to start a new job.
Here are snippets from the last part of our conversation as confirmation of God's faithfulness:
"I am
asking God right now if this is His way of providing the housing cost,
i.e. through your family?! All I know right now is that it'd be awesome
if you prayerfully make this decision."
"The Lord provides for His priest and why not for you! So
don't worry about the cost. Now
with the cost settled, you should plan for other things. Fortunately, Singapore is
well blessed and you should be safe, don't worry about lightning
strikes* - only golfers playing on Sundays and not going to church get
struck dead once in a while!!"
I'm overwhelmed. I use insignificance to justify personal struggles so
often that it became truth to me. I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that I am significant to
God. Not just anyone, but God. I am cynical, expecting only conditional relationships where I must give in order to receive, that now it's strange to experience God's unconditional love in this manner.
My faith in God continues to strengthen. God is faithful.
It looks like I'll be the guest of OMF the first month, which means I get to explore Singapore before making a housing decision. Please pray that I am a good house guest. Pray that I discern and choose the option is most pleasing to Him.
* When they mentioned that the house frequently gets hit by lightning, I asked if this was general concern throughout Singapore. It's not. :)
