  • Two Souls, Definitely Worth $12.90

I ask you to pray for Mike and Chanelle. These two teenage siblings were pulling a styrofoam cooler tied to a folding luggage cart as they walked up to us tonight.

"Will you purchase a box of ice cream for $12.90?"

    "Thank you, but no."

"We are selling ice cream to supplement our family income."

"Well, we can't afford such expensive ice cream, but here's some cash to help you out."

"It would be better for us if you could buy the ice cream."

    Divine inspiration strikes.

"Hold on. I'll buy a box if you let me share about something. Have you heard of Jesus?"

Chanelle heard about Jesus and Mary because an uncle took her to the Catholic church once. Mike didn't answer, but later said that he believes in reincarnation, depending on the good and bad deeds you've done in this life. He also pointed out that no one can tell if another person is good or bad by their outer appearance alone.

I'm not sure where the courage or the words came from, but I shared with them a short story about how God changed me. I then shared God's law and love with them. Praise God, Chanelle asked why Jesus rose from the dead. I gave them each a copy of the book of John. Interestingly enough, I had to remind them of my promise to buy ice cream from them! With all honesty, I told them that the reason for purchasing the ice cream was because we really wanted them to read the book!

Vivian prayed while I witnessed to them. We decompressed with more prayer after walking into the house and are both quite encouraged by God's trust in us. So ... please pray for these Singaporeans, that God would raise them up to become our brother and sister in Christ.
