| | Upon Master John Lai's request, here's an English post. Chinese just takes too long to type >_<
I met up with my brother's family today for lunch, along with my parents. My nieces, Tiffany, Odelia, and Sonia are so cute. The first two actually enjoy fooling around with "Uncle William" (yeah that's right. UNCLE William). Tiffany is already four years old, and I still remember her little face hiding behind Kay's arms, thumb in mouth, when we first met.
The girls are growing like a sapling starved for light, shooting upwards with such speed and vigour. They seemed well content to learn, and their minds are like a sponge, absorbing and retaining all we poured into it. How about this: Tiffany could operate a DVD/CD player with ease when she was two and a half years old!
Makes me think back when I was a kid that age. Time meant nothing to me. Everybody around me was immortal in my eyes, and boyhood was eternal, and so I lived a boy's life of challenge and adventure, taking it hard sometimes when there were days of brilliant sunshine that were lost to me because my lessons kept me within walls. Like all boys, I would have preferred my schooling to be different. Given the choice, which my parents were careful to prevent, I would have opted for the parts I loved instinctively, and consigned the other, less enthralling aspects to some unspecified period called "later." |
