i can't quite figure out what's going on...too lazy to read all the technicalities of course selection.

But I hope most students realize certain fields aren't practical if you intend to work immediately after graduating

What's interesting is that these 'certain fields' are perceived to be more practical than others if you intend to work immediately after graduating.

Yeah, i know someone who just went into 3rd yr and had to pick all his courses... he even has the option of taking 4th yr courses.. but they want you to go into 'streams', so you're more 'specialized'... what a bunch of crap...
But, saying that, almost everyone applying for PEY has multiple interviews (even with low marks), and the job market is crazy good now in terms of new hires.. there are many people I know who had multiple interviews already, and even a mech in 4th yr i know has a job lined up in Alberta already (one of the big oil companies)...
