Think I might be discontinuing updating here in favor of my livejournal.

Oh man, beauuutiful day today! There must be something like a few dozen people out on the Heart playing frisbee or soccer or playing drums or just enjoying this wonderful weather, mmmm, :) I think it's in the 70s, so nice!

Right now I'm working on an application for the Sexual Violence in a Societal Context class that I'm hoping to get into for next semester -there's a class-size limit of 18 students and then I need to reply to a spanish student who e-mailed me who's going to the University Autonoma in the state of Morelos in Mexico, that us Mexico May Termers are doing an e-mail exchange with. Also got an e-mail back about (and from!) the family I'll be staying with in Mexico! Here's some details: the dad's name is Ignacio and he was a customs officer in Mexico City, he now runs several small businesses from home, the mom's name is Rosalia, and they have two girls, one 15 years-old and the other 7. The dad's mother also lives with them, as well as his brother and his two 11 year-old boys. And if I understand the e-mail correctly, the dad taught classes at the University of Nagoya in Japan at some point, and speaks Japanese, English, and Chinese, as well as Spanish. Wow.

Well, back to work, also have a fairly massive spanish exam on Monday ("la mama preuba," as our prof, Rodolfo is cheerfully calling, aghh, haha...), and a meeting tomorrow (finally!) with some students to talk about anti-racism efforts here on campus for this and next semester.

Oh, before that though, continuing past this next semester, spring of my 2nd year, I'm hoping to fulfill a couple more PAGS major requirements (of which their are over a dozen), my two arts requirements (hopefully by taking photography and this one film studies class that is only offered once every three years, haha), and then possibly a 300 or 400 level spanish or economics class. For fall of my 3rd year, I'm aiming to be abroad in Mexico, which would be really amazing and exciting (and would be the only way I could really minor in Spanish and Hispanic Studies I think), but being away for that long -especially from Shel, is a bit scary too. Then spring of my 3rd year, some various classes, fall of my 4th year I'll have to fulfill my science requirements (not fun, haha, ahhh!), probably by taking astronomy (ooo boy, yahh!) and geology (ughh..) and my PAGS Senior Research Project, and then my 4th spring my PAGS Senior Seminar and whatever else. Purttyyy crazy! Another possibility, which I'm throwing around a little bit is double-majoring in PAGS and International Studies.

Alright. So.

Next semester I (believe I) am going to be taking: ECON101 Introduction to Macroeconomics; PAGS343 Conflict Resolution; AAAS356 Comparative Practices: The Civil Rights Movement; SPAN301 Advanced Spanish: Conversation and Composition; and WMNS340 Sexual Violence in a Societal Context, for a total of 17 credits. I'm really excited about taking these classes (well, at least most of them -it always seems to be more exciting choosing and signing up for classes than actually taking them... As Shelly says, "hope spring eternal" [that they'll be good classes/professors]," haha, heh...), I've heard really good things about both the African & African American Studies professor and the Women's Studies professor.

And... I'll hafta finish this later (again), actually, because I have to go meet Shelly at Lilly (library).

Update more latah.

But on the quick: classes, wow, figured out (I think) practically the 3 years here -exciting and a little scary. Lot of awesome events/speakers coming up. Mexico in May, got my fam! Etc.

More laters.

(Omg, I'm in my dad's studio, using the comp there and what must be the worse monitor ever. I feel like I'm looking into a fishbowl...)

Home for spring break! It's so peaceful here, everything seems so quiet in comparison with Earlham -it's very restful feeling, which is wonderful. Been taking the first couple days slow, which has been really nice, but gonna have to vamp up for the next/last three. Spent a lot of time talking and laughing and goofing around with my sister and dad and mom, which has been really nice (hehee, and also a bit with Shelly, via the phone, which has been really nice too :). Emma's going to high school now, which is new, and she has to get up around 6am every day and isn't home until after soccer practice which means like 5pm or 6pm -kinda crazy, and I'm gonna miss her not being around, but she seems to be really enjoying school so far, and she's acing all her classes, andd she just got on to the JV soccer team, which she's really thrilled about. :)

Well, anyway, gonna hit bed -dentist appoitment tomorrow, may do some other errands, need to finish writing a letter in spanish to the family I will be staying with in Mexico, etc.

Two posts I made on my livejournal and forgot to duplicate here:
