    Appreciating the Storm

My mom would get so frustrated and upset with me and my daydreaming, she would say, “You always have your head in the clouds!” You know what? Those of us with our heads in the clouds are the first to see the rainbows.

I was driving down the road when the rain began pelting my ‘88 Delta 88. The rain was coming down so hard and fast that I was compelled to slow to a creeping 10 mph. What! Why? This is slowing everything down. This is wreaking havoc on my plans. I have places to go, things to accomplish in just a short amount of time. How could this happen now? Of course, I tried to reason with myself and lose the attitude. After all, the trees needed the rain. The grass had been turning brown and dry. Flowers were wilting. The rain was required. I was not terribly upset because of the downpour. The rain came down for a short half hour. I looked up and saw one of the most vivid rainbows I had ever seen. How many people did not even notice that rainbow. There were 120,000 people in town that day that saw the rain; and only a handful, I am sure, even took the time to appreciate the rainbow. Something good can always come out of the storm. If I had not seen the rainbow, I still would have noticed the greener grass in a matter of days. I thanked God for the rain as well as the rainbow.

How many people complained about the rain

and never took the time to admire the rainbow?

Summertime in FL brings lots of rainbows since we get rain almost every day in the afternoon. I love the rain and the rainbows!

I hope you're doing well. God bless.

What a good post! A speaker we just heard at a missions conference spoke about storms...he used the passage about the disciples going ahead in the boat as instructed by Jesus and hitting the storm and how He used it to demonstrate His glory. Rainbows are a reminder of God's promises and there is always a reason for the storms!

@kafekotka - yes, though sometimes we question the reasons for the storms in our lives. God always works things out for our good. i posted this knowing the storms i have been facing the past few weeks. it started when i wrecked my vehicle...i have to be so thankful that none of the kids were with me and that i was not injured and the others involved in the accident weren't hurt. and now i am dealing with all the aftermath and then a hog ran out in front of my husband on his way home 2 wks after my accident and damages his truck (pretty  badly)...so needless to say, our insurance company is loving us right now. some things cannot be helped, but it's good to know that God is there to help us pick up the broken pieces.

@christy_the_poet - Oh sorry to hear about these accidents..PTL that no one was seriously hurt...all the same I know what a hassel it is to deal with the insurance and getting something to drive etc...God's grace will get you through.....it sounds like a trite remark but I really believe it will!!!

It's been too long since I've been by, Christy! We were busy getting ready for an antique/craft show, and were there for 3 days ... it's been a very long week/weekend, and I need a day, maybe two, to recuperate!

This is a wonderful post ... that is one thing I always look for when it rains and the sun shines ... the rainbow. Storms in our lives make us stronger ... grow our faith. The moment I pray and ask God for more faith, or a stronger faith ... a 'storm' (trial) 'blows' into my life very soon after that! Someone told me once to be careful what you ask Him for! But something good always comes out of it, and I do appreciate those storms ... God has a purpose for every trial we go through. And, I do like what you said ...'those with their heads in the clouds are the first to see the rainbow'! As for me, I do want to take time to admire that rainbow! You have a wonderful week!

    Bless you,
    ~ Deborah <><

    Christy,

So true.  There is always a rainbow with the Lord and we need to look for it.

    Blessings,

Native Americans named the Bad Lands.  I assume it was because nothing could grow there.  It is a beautiful 50 mile area.

AMEN! I love the rainbows, and usually, I love the storms, too.

There are storms of life I don't care much for, but I do try to see the rainbow. There are those in my family, though, that don't even know rainbows exist.

    Rainbow

Genesis 9:8: And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
    9: And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
10: And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
11: And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
12: And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14: And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16: And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
17: And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

    I seeing a rainbow!
