On the down side of 90. Now serving #86. Join me in my counting until retirement.
Brother and wife arrived safely in Puerto Rico. Tomorrow the boys play basketball.

Tonight, BF worked late. (he has that old work ethic) So, I did something I have not done in years...maybe never. I bought myself a pizza. I ate about half of it. It was a small one with Italian sausage and mushrooms. I don't know if Papa John's is a national chain or not, but it is way good to me. Then I ate some cottage cheese so my mouth wouldn't burn so badly.....always a draw back. Usually I don't eat much pizza of any kind. It is too hard on my pancreas.

Later I made myself a wonderful cup of hot chocolate. This is how I do it to save a few calories....I mix a regular envelop of double chocolate mix (or something you really feel guilty about) and an envelop of low, low calorie mix. Put them in the large cup and pour hot water. Then put about two spoonfuls of Whipped topping (about 25 calories) and a cherry on top.....or sometimes I use a peppermint stick to stir it. Yummy. I used it as a reward for working while I have been so sick with this cold and crud. This makes it less than a fattening dessert. Works for me.

We have a field trip to the science center in about a month. I had to get the papers signed. The principal was almost eager to do it. He likes that we take everyone in 8th grade who will go. The two programs are aligned with the state standards, so that is one of the reasons I like it. Plus, it is a fun trip. We eat at the mall food court and then go back in time for last period.

Maybe next year when I retire I will publish my stories and novellas. Maybe even publish some more of the poetry. I haven't written very much lately. My Muse is on vacation. She has been gone quite a while, too.

We are working two more days in the computer lab next week, and then we will go back two days later in the month to "tweak" the projects. I am liking this. I will pick the best 5 or 6 projects. The kids will make the backgrounds and improve their slides and print them. Then they will enter those projects in the regional science fair. The rest of the kids get a grade for their projects and following directions, the winners get to enter at a higher level than before, and some of the kids who wouldn't normally been able to pass this year, have enough of a grade to bring their average up to passing at least one nine weeks. I actually rarely have kids fail my class. They choose to do nothing and fail. It happens, but not much.
I will be back tomorrow for a basketball game update.

Now we know why some boys never grow up.

  • Papa John's is a national chain, but according to their commercials they use "quality ingredients." I like them.
  • Rub it in, rub it in......I want to retire too but have too many year's yet to go    It's not that easy to publish stories or poems.  Cost money unless you do it yourself and if you go solo the rejection rate is very high, not that anyone's work isn't good it's just how they do it.  To publish a book or novel can run 300.00 to 2 thousand dollars and they have set lay out's on them to follow.  This allows your book to be shown and placed in book store's so forth and so forth expensive yes but they do all the work.  Makes me wonder how so many books get published because there are millions of them for sale.
  • Those two photos make this mother's heart beat like crazy!!!! Yikes!!!! Can we go back to the sweet, funny animal pics???
  • You write very well and most likely can get your work published, me I just like to ramble write, to express stories as they come forth from my head not interested in trying to get any published because I would have to formatt and change words, correct and relay the story and that would not suite me as I said I just like to ramble.  I like to write the way I would enjoy reading and that doesn't give high mark's to be published but I am happy just the same, making up stories relaxes me.
  • I'll take a cuppa your hot chocolate any time.  Sounds yummy.
  • I see you are passionate by the teaching . What will happen when you retitre next year  ? Writing , probably .
I am glad my site may help your grandson .

  • Where in the world do you get your fascinating pictures? We were talking about retirement last night at the dinner group. I have five years; one of the other teachers is 70 and still teaching. She decides year by year what she will do. I am staying until I get Medicare because I can't afford health insurance. If I were married, I would consider retiring in a year or two; however, if I have another year with this many student, I would leave sooner. Glad you are feeing better and that your brother is too.

  • At first I didn't understand the "downside of 90" comment, but then figured it out.  You sound like my daughter-in-law across state.  She know exactly how many days she has left of running her in-home day care.  She has been doing this since her oldest kids were little---like around 20 yrs..  She will stop sometime in May, in order to get their house in shape for selling.  They will be going on the road in their bus (refurbished into a motor home) once the house sells.

I make my hot chocolate treat kinda like you do.  I use water to save calories, and will mix my favorite Nestle Butterfinger hot chocolate with a low calorie one.  Get my chocolate "fix" and don't feel so guilty.  Great minds--------and all that!
