  • "Happy Saturday"

shower and home and Arial 024
Daughter in law to be and her friend at the shower last weekend. I am really glad I went to the shower.
I sent her (future dil) another picture in her Easter card of my son as a kid. She called and told me how much she loved it. I have sent her 3 of his pictures from his "youth" in cards since the first of the year. She is loving that.

I have an easeway along the side of my yard from the front street to the back of the property. There are two pipes that meet at the edge of my property and the easeway was installed some time ago and then upgraded a few years ago. It is invaluable when it rains much or in a short amount of time. Sometimes the kids (preteens mostly) use the culvert for a cut through, but not too much, so I don't say anything. Anyway, I have two things about this piece of land. First, there is a cat living in the pipes. She comes to the openings that meet there at the end of my property and just hangs out. I think she may have kittens somewhere around and she likes to come out for the heat and such. Or, and this is likely, she likes to catch any little animals that venture into the pipes. She is there now and I can see her just sitting.

Second, and most annoying, the new neighbors on that side of my house have apparently decided that the easeway is public property. They have a teen aged son and he and his friends have played football and other games and cross the culvert and run onto my front lawn. I have a problem with that in case one of them gets hurt....I will be liable. Now it seems they have decided to discard some pieces of cement left over from putting a gate in the fence on that side of the house in the culvert. This front part of the culvert is cemented and bricked more than half way down the side of my back yard and it runs parallel to their yard. My fence is on the left of the culvert, and theirs is on the right. The culvert or easeway is between the two fences and yards, but it is on my property. My deed says so. The rest of the culvert has grass, dirt, and such, and is more natural. My son clears it of bushes, grass, etc. during the warm weather.
Today, I walked along the easeway and took the 12 or so pieces of cement they had put there (anywhere from 6-8 inch square pieces) back on the lawn of their place. I hope they get the message about it so I don't have to go over and ask them not to put things in there. I am thinking they think the easeway is probably public property, but it isn't. I can foresee this being a problem for me.

Okay, my penguin has blue rabbit ears and is ready to sit on my front porch in the morning, surrounded by an Easter basket and lots of brightly colored plastic eggs.

I am going to the early service, so I asked my son to wait until they leave church to come by my place so I can take pictures of the kids and their new outfits and pose with my Easter penguin. Their church is a few blocks from my house, so they often stop by if I am home on Sundays or if they want to leave a kid with me when they go to Bible study. I like that. They are building a new church soon. It is farther away from me, so that won't be as convenient.

I have on a flannel pj shirt over my shirt tonight. It is 75 degrees out there and about 70 in here, but I am cold. BRRRR.
If I don't get another chance to tell you ....
    He is Risen!

  • He is Risen indeed!  Happy Easter!

  • the tomb is empty.

Hey,the girls are so pretty and young and skinny.

you might have to talk to the neighbors-we have wonderful neighbors and no kids on either side anymore since they're grown and that makes it nice.

  • pWn3d!!!
  • I'm a nut...

    Happy Easter to you.

I'd suggest just mentioning in passing that the easement which belongs to you has landmines in it and you've been worrying about them playing ball there.

  • HE IS RISEN INDEED!  Happy Easter!

Hope you take pics of the kiddos with the penguin.

I bet the neighbors don't know the culvert is on your land.  You may have to tell them.  Hopefully they will take it nicely.  We are fortunate here---great neighbors. Just once did we have bad neighbors, and they made up for all the excellent ones!!

Our local kids just called and asked us over tomorrow.  They did have sickness there, but all are better now.  So, will delay our dinner until Monday.  Nothing special, but was going to cook for the both of us, rather than each of us scrounging around for what we want. The oldest granddaughter there just got back from doing charity work in Juarez over Spring Break, and I want to hear all about it.  She has to leave to go back to college right away on Monday.  They were not sure if she would get back in time for Easter because of the storms on the way home.

  • @robbie_caudle - I have not even met them.  The man gets in his truck and goes away and sometimes I see the truck there, but never the man.  I have seen a woman in a SUV only once?  Not sure if she lives there or not????

  • @mimiwi - I am glad the granddaughter got back.  I also am glad they invited you over to eat.  My dil's mom invited me along with son and his fiance to lunch tomorrow.  I am making my Asparagus casserole, deviled eggs, and kiddy cupcakes and going on over.  Happy Easter.

  • @closethippie - Since the invite came at the last minute, I am not taking anything over there---except for a bag of pretzels I have here.  Since you mentioned deviled eggs, I might try that, too.  Thanks for the idea.

  • Hi just stopped by to read your blog and see how you are doing.  have a blessed easter...

  • That sort of thing with your neighbor is what annoys me here. So many people think it's ok to cut through our yard, driveway, etc.  If I had a dime for every time I told people that they were on private property.  Thing is though, they act offended and like they don't understand. Ya, they get hurt and I get sued?  No thanks.

Hope you're having a Happy Easter!

  • Just a quick run-down of the blog-- first and foremost!
    Happy Easter--He Has Risen!

Your soon to be daughter in law is so cute and her friend looks so much like her I thought they were sisters!

If your neighbor went to the bother to actually place those pieces of cement there in the first place, whether or not he thinks its public domain or not, what kind of person just 'dumps' their garbage there?  I do think he will need to be told just to stop future things "showing" up there.  Obviously he has no problem with being a 'dumper' and litter nut.

I miss the days when the children lined up to take their pictures in their new Sunday Easter best!  How wonderful for you that your grandchildren are so close by for you to share in these times!

...and last...75 degrees!!  I am truly jealous...I am in Seattle in the pouring rain and cold!  I wore a nice Easter dress today and nearly FROZE in church!  Keeping the perspective though...I am not in the floods, the many feet of winter blizzard storms, the tornado's....I will be grateful for my family, my Easter saviour and a really fabulous dinner to look forward to!!

    Happy Easter to you!
