  • The Great Search

    There's an idea going around.

It is an idea that we - this generation - is realizing that we ARE something.  We need to find out WHO we are and WHY we are the way we are.  We need to KNOW ourselves and no one else can tell us who we are because each of us is unique.

    SCREECHING HALT PLEASE!

In searching for ourselves, we've staked the claim that we have the right to:

    wear what we want:

    dress

    say what we want:

    yell

    do what we want:

    punch

    eat what we want:

    ana

    drink what we want:

    drink

And it's all because we are SEARCHING for ourselves and BECOMING who we are.  (Doesn't that sound silly…if you really think about it.  I can picture Captain Jack Sparrow, staggering around the beach with a bottle of rum in hand asking little birds, "Have you seen myself?  I don't know who I am!")

We all know who we are - to a great degree.  We know if we like broccoli or not.  We know if we're comfortable talking in front of a room or not.  We have an idea of what kind of future we would like to have.  In essence, we already know who we are.

What we should be searching for (should because only this can help us FIND what we are looking for) is goodness, love, peace, hope, joy.  The Bible says so and I believe it's right.  What we should be searching for is Jesus.
