Brrrr! What a frosty picnic! Wind was whipping around....precipitation came down in waves and changed back and forth between rain and snow. We all huddled around the grills where we were cooking the hotdogs, and dh even broke down and went to Wal-Mart and bought a space heater. (secondary motive for him...now he can do his late-night tinkering out in the "garage" (our storage room that houses, among other things, our washer and dryer) anyway...late-night tinkering can be done with a new measure of warmth with the space heater.

My neglected garden is starting to show signs of stirring...the wind-whipped peas are starting to climb (well, the half that survuved) and new shoots odf spinach and radishes are finally poking through the soil! Sometimes I wonder if I plant seeds too early...maybe I need to wait a month past what the package recomends for my zone. I have been trying to garden as organically as possible the past few years...with mixed results.

Ds ready to do some reading...dd is napping...time to go...

I'm jealous of your garden! We've got a month or two before we can get going. Last summer was a bust because of the drought here- plus we're pretty sucky gardeners. I may end-up gardening vicariously through your blog!
