 well..what do you know?
oddities in the garden...

Are those little green buds what I thing they are?  Brussel sprouts!!!  I had all but given up on my lovely brussel sprout plants, which have existed alll summer without sprouting...the very ones planted from seed 8 months ago, in March.  I guess they were just waiting for the cooler weather!  They take a loooong, looong time!  (-:

And here's another oddity:

I was clearing out the beds of the withered summer plants, and also pulled the remaining carrots.  This one came out like this!  The other side looks like a regular carrot, but this side looks like it had been split in half!  You can see the center taproot, and the meaty part looks hollow.  Isn't that neat?

these were the prettiest wildflower/weeds of the whole season...

Artsy gave me the pumpkins from her garden

Our sycamore tree in it's fall bronzyness...those balls are seed pods.  WHen they mature, they fall to the ground and poof open, releasing thousands of seeds.  The kids like to pull them apart, but do they ever have strong, dusty pollen!  Achoo!

I love the pics! Especially the sycamore tree one. I have a big thing for trees.

I grew brussel sprouts. They sprouted and were promptly infested with aphids. Let me tell you- the extra protein was NOT wanted. Hope you have better luck! :) Erin

Kinda silly of me to come by when I have no time to read, but I just wanted to thank you for your supportive comments lately.
