The corn wwasn't growing...not a peep in two weeks. I dug it up , and it was plenty moist, but not germinated. The seed packet said that they are guarenteed to grow, and gave reasons if they didn't. My guess is that I planted them too deep, and also the kernels looked very shrively.
But I found the article on making a three sisters garden (from last year's Cobblestone Mag) - had photocopied it and forgot I had done so....and rearranged some things, and rep, lanted the corn with a new pack of gorgeous, unshriveled seed kernels. We'll se what happens.

Gardening must be taking hold in ds..he actually got his hands dirty and helped me sow the corn kernels! He has been into NAtive American culture/music/stories lately, too. FOund a treasure trove on books and videos at the library (most requested from other county libraries) this past weekend. FOund a book on native symbols, as ds wants to make a shield with one on it, also found a video on Native dances/drumming that was the hit of SAturday afternoon. (complete with drums and masks and costumes) Found a few native stories, too. I just love homeschooling! I say that practically every day. ANd the library is the best curriculum in the world...so much of whatever you would want to know. I couldn't get all of the resources i got this weekend in any prepackaged curriculum out there.

That's so great that homeschooling is working well for you and your son!

Good luck with your corn. What's a three sisters garden?
