Dustmite started this one.    She blogged yesterday about a movie she had just seen, starring Geena Davis,  and noted that she looks like her.  So I am propagating this along...has anyone told you that you look like a celebrity or high profile person?  Or have you noticed the similarity?  Care to share in your blog?

I have been told by several people that I look like Steffi Graf.  There she is up there on the left.  I haven't been told this in about 10 years though...I was 25 pounds lighter, and, several years before that, described as  "loud and athletic" by my roommate in college (to my future husband.)

I've played tennis very, very casually, just lopping the ball over the net (sometimes it made it over) with my brother while growing up...or even in the street in our neighborhood.  That's all the tennis I've done.  I was a competitive swimmer instead.

I still do the ponytail thing, though!  and I can make mine look as good as Steffi's when I apply myself!

Very good program!

It's pledge week at PBS...when they have some very juicy programming!  You may want to look for Christiane Northrup's new program, Mother-Daughter Wisdom, based on her new book of the same name.  It airs this week...check out your local listings at pbs.org.  Here's some information from the PBS website:

Health & Medicine

Dr. Christiane Northrup's Mother-Daughter Wisdom Check local listings for air date and time

In the course of this four-act program, Dr. Christiane Northrup reveals how and why the mother-daughter bond is at the headwaters of a woman's health and how a deeper awareness and understanding of this most profound of all relationships is crucial to all women -- and the men who love them. (CC, Stereo)

Christianne Northrup also wrote, Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom.  She is an ob/gyn in Maine, and is very keen on the body-mind-spirit connection...your body and general health mirror your life events.  She is also very funny and has great insight...catch this program if you can!

I had a great evening with her program...I had my cup of tea, hotpack on my back, daughter playing quietly in the room, my period had just started...feminine power ruled the roost!   The  boys (dh and ds) , although invited, choose to go to bed.

Today's "Thursday thinker" haiku is to be about a favorite memory or tradition of St. Patrick's day.

I saw a tiny bit of that show before the break to ask for pledges and I was too tired to keep watching. I am going to have to look for this show the next time PBS plays it.

I read one of her books and enjoyed it.  I can't say that I agreed with all of her assertions, but I did like her approach of treating mind and body as one.

People have told me, especially Brits, that I look like Emma Thompson.  That was when my hair was longer and pulled back into a short ponytail.
