Look what we found on our tree today! Isn't he (she?) a beaute? (or *was* a beaute...the bug's gone..this is just the skin) Have you been seeing cicadas where you live? Ds and I were wondering about the life cycle of the cicada, and found: The Cicada Mania FAQ page, and Kids' CIcada Hunt, the latter of which is a page put up by a family who has devoted this past summer to studying the cicada. The former link answers just about any question you might have (including, "Is it safe for my kids to eat cicadas?") and the latter link answers questions, but draws up a few interesting ones, too. ENjoy...let me know if you are finding little cicada exoskeletons attached to your trees!

Thanks for the messy house support, Mamas! Yes Ivy, I too sit here to avoid housework. ANd Dustmite, I can live with it (much of the time, anyway) so that is really what counts! (and horray fort he plastic bins!)
Hickmama...I too find that I get inspired by FlyLady and kick myself in the pantsand get cleaning...only to be obsessed about having a clean house all day long! I don't want to be thinking about it even a tenth of that amount of time.

Ivy mentioned My Messy House.com as an alternative to the FlyLady. I visited there last night, and the author made an important point: Many of the messy house help books are probably written by people who are naturally neat and keep a tidy house. My theory is that if this statement is true, that the neat freaks don't obsess about having a neat house all day long, and can just naturally get the cleaning done. (or *do* they obsess about it? I would love to hear the opinion of a cleanie out there!) ANyway, for someone who is a "messie" by nature has to work much harder than the cleanie in keeping the house tidy because it is against our natures to be tidy. THat may be why we obsess about the cleaning when we actually try to keep up with it. What do you think?

Oh yes...df found the page,FLYing with Homeschooling Families on the FlyLady website. A FlyLady page for homeschoolers! But from reading the testimonials from homeschooling mamas there, these families seem to be entirely school-at-homers, who are already scheduled all day long, anyway. WHen there is a schedule, I think it must be very easy to fit in the cleaning. (yeah....excuses, excuses! WHine, whine, whine!)

I love your house!  It sounds just like mine!  We just bought it and moved in 2 weeks ago.  Its a 1980's ranch.  Right now its decorated with bare beige walls and boxes. :)

I have flyladys book.  I love to read it while soaking in a steaming hot bubble bath late at night.  I determine to get up early and start my day properly, but it never seems to work that way.

Thanks for reminding me. I need to stop back by my mymessyhouse again- my place is out of control.

Every very neat person I've ever known has also been either a very structured person or the sort of person who doesn't keep anything- no sentimantal crap all over their house. Or they have money for someone elese to do it all. I think I'll skip those flylady homeschoolers.

I have a friend who has designated November "anti-procrastinaion month". She might have gotten the idea from flylady. Seems like a good idea to me- going into December without a ton of crap to deal with. I'm going to try it too.
