blizzard in the desert...

Or close to it.  (-:  I love paper snowflakes....just love them!!!  We have a blizzard falling in the entranceway between the kitchen and family room this year!

Ds is pretty handy with a pair of scissors, and he enjoys making them from preformed patterns we found online.  Dd can't quite manage the scissors for that grueling detail yet, so she likes to unfold the ones we cut out, or make simple ones out of folding a piece of paper into quarters,a nd then using the fancy-edged scissors to make random shapes.

There are some really nice snowflake sites out there!  Here are some we have enjoyed:

Dave's Snowflake Page  This is our favorite page!  There are lots of patterns that you just print out, fold, and cut out the darker area.  When you unfold the snowflake...oooohh lala!  They are intricate and beautiful!!  He also has a page for kids, with slightly less difficult patterns.  made fore kids who have good control of scissors and hand strength.  Little ones might enjoy carefully unfolding the finsihed snowflake to reveal the beauty to themselves and everyone around them.

Dave made this page in dedication to his mother, who cut out snowflakes every Christmas Eve with the family gathered 'round....

Snowflakes.com  Snowflake extravaganzaa here!  There are snowflake templates, but we found them a bit small and harder to work with.  They also have finished snowflake images ready to color, snowflake science pages, snowflake crafts and games, etc.  They also have images of wreaths, Christmas trees, and the more unusual...mandalas or crop circles, anyone???

Ben and Jerry's Paper Snowflakes  Part of the duo's papercraft pages.  There are three lovely snowflake templates to print, fold and cut.  There are links to their papercrafft and holiday pages too.  Pass the Cherry Garcia and Mudslide!

That reminds me that we haven't made any paper snowflakes this year. We usually stick them all over the windows and keep them on until Imbolc on Feb 2nd. Your snowflakes are lovely!

Those are beautiful snowflakes!  We have too many of the real ones outside right now.  I never think too hard about making them inside.  We may cut some tomorrow, for some creative tree decorations.  The kids love putting their own creations on the tree.

I just came back to link to Dave's Snowflake Patterns. I just banged out 10 of  "snowflake no. 11"

I'm going to see how long it takes me to cut out one "snowflake no. 27"

I may spend the day creating my own blizzard, even though I still have a foot of snow on the balcony
