Merry Christmas Eve!!!!!
I got tagged by the one and only, eggnog-loving, Beloved Sunshine for the following:
What are 5 things you like, and 5 things you dislike about Christmas:
The likes:
1. Light, light, light!
Candlelight, firelight, electric holiday lights, the long angle of the sunlight that produces a gold glow to everything. I love to drive around to look at light displays with my family, or simply take a walk around the neighborhood looking after the sun goes down.
2. Music, music, music!!!
We try to gobble up as many performances as we can locally. We have a college band, an Army band, a high school band, a small symphony orchestra, several choral groups, a youth orchestra, an annual production of The Nutcracker, etc. I love listening to Christmas carols all day, and would love to do some caroling, if I found people to go with me. I love playing carols on a recorder or the piano too...I would love again for someone(s) to do some casual duets or ensemble music
3. Action, action, action!
I love how the goodwill of people catches on this time of year. We love giving to individuals and groups that help others in that spirit of goodwill.
4. The Son
I love honoring Jesus, an all-around great guy, who made such a difference in this world.
5. Yum, yum, yum!!
Oh, the food! The cookies! Traditional favorites that I look forward to every year.
The dislikes:
1. How crowded the stores, especially the grocery store, gets at this time of year.
2. Fruitcake. I'm' sorry, I've tried to keep an open mind. I've tried it more than once!
3. The attitude of focusing on certain ideas and actions that sour the true meaning of unity, love and goodwill for all people. C'mon folks, would Jesus do that??? This is a deliberately broad statement, I know, as there are many ways this can be done.
4. Being sick on Chrstmas!!!!!!!!
5. Falling asleep before getting the kids' presents under the tree....Wah!
6. Vandalism and stealing of Christmas displays, which I believe falls under the category of #3.
