 it's about time......

May photo blog-a-long....

((Water!))

I decided to capture water in the three matter states...........

solid:

This is a tiny shell we picked up on the beach in Cornwall. (...almost *2* years ago!  Sheesh!  Time flies!)  This tiny Cornwall shell was then placed in an ice cube tray in my freezer...voila.

Then I put it on my cutting board, and brought it out into the sun in my front yard.  Then, so I could actually see through my viewfinder (the white board and teh full sun was so glary) I put a t-shirt over my head as I took a series of shots.  I wanted to capture the ice melting and glistening in the sun.  Then, in my glory, hunched over this shell in an ice cube, (rear end sticking out),  taking pictures with a t-shirt over my head, my neighbor's voice appears out of nowhere....

"What in the world are you doing???"

liquid:

I shamefully admit that I've posted this shot before.  THis is a photo of my neighbor (not the same neighbor...this one lives across the street, next door to the neighbor that caught me with the shirt over my head)  It was her 8th birthday party, (last June) and she had out the slip-n-slide...    A watercolor filter was added in photoshop.

bonus liquid shot:

I took this photo in March, after a brief rain shower.  The every-lovely rain drops were dripping and glistening on a rogue tuft of grass in my wine barrel planter.

This image is featured im my photo greeting card line. (shameless plug)

gas:

I took this one the other day. (there was moisture in the air...a pre-monsoon preview)  (-:
The cloud bank didn't look nearly as omnious as this though. (shameless admission)  I used our new amber-colored filter on the camera lens (part of Dh's Mother's Day gift) which colorized the shot in an eerie cast.  Doesn't it look like a tornado is going to spin up at any moment?  I also stopped down by 1 1/3 to get more contrast on the clouds.

bonus gas shot  (hmmmm...how does that sound to you?)

Dearfriend reminded me of this one....(and she is the guest photographer)  This is a firewalker in England....notice the steam rising from the coals?  Any moisture on his feet is evapoating away.  (and the coals are probably dusty too)  Amazing!

Ahhh...now that feels better!!! (see the firewalk post here).

What a creative approach to the topic of water.  That shell is so interesting.  My favorite is the girl at the birthday party.  The water looks like diamonds.

We've had such a watery week, between sea world, the beach, and swimming every day, I can probably come up with some kind of water related post.  :)

Oh the pictures are GORGEOUS, as usual. One of these days I need to get a complete list of all your picture goodies, from camera type to all the software you use.

I bought the Lumapix program and was given a job! I think I need to invest further in software, but I had a blast. I did the background for www.xanga.com/alloutonline They were VERY pleased. I ADORE the picture manipulations. Too much fun!

Thanks again
Heather

That first one is so attention getting!  What a contrast.  You think of shells on a warm beach, not surrounded with ice.  And I love your enhancement of the little neighbor girl playing in the water.  That's really cool.  I always love droplets of water on plants or flowers.  Really nice!  Thanks for including me in the blog-a long!

Awww, I'm flattered! Yes, if I knew how to "link" a page I would, but it never works for me!!!! I'm glad you liked the photos and it was fun to play - so neat to get different visitors - you never know who you'll meet! And I'm still giggling over the neighbor and the t-shirt and the melting ice... oh yes...   :) Only a photographer can find themselves in those situations! Have a great Monday!
